It's happening more and more. To the point where I am expecting it to happen. Why? Just WHY?

Is it my computer or is MN spectacularly crap at handling traffic or whatever the reason is for it?

shuffles off to another internet place where this doesn't happen

IcedCoffeeQueen · 01/10/2013 15:33

happens to me all the time as well - very annoying I've never known a site to do down so often

Sleepwhenidie · 01/10/2013 15:33

It does seem to be happening with alarming regularity lately, most annoying.

AtiaoftheJulii · 01/10/2013 15:34

I generally find that if I reload all is well!

NadiaWadia · 01/10/2013 15:35

Yes it happens all the time. But usually if you come back in few seconds it is working again. MNHQ must be in need of a more powerful server?

greensmoothiegoddess · 01/10/2013 15:44

Increasingly the reload button just brings up the same message. Been bashing away at it all week to no avail and am now looking at the dent on my tracker pad

Glad it's not just me!

YANBU

Do we need to nominate MNHQ on the Christmas thingy so they can get a new server?

IAmMiranda · 01/10/2013 15:47

Glad its not just me! Thought MN hated me and my laptop

squoosh · 01/10/2013 15:47

It seems to happen ALL the time. Are they a bit stingy with the updating of their IT hardware?

CatThiefKeith · 01/10/2013 15:48

It seems to happen, without fail, every afternoon as soon as dd goes down for a nap and I get comfy for a spot of Mning. Pfffft!

Tee2072 · 01/10/2013 15:49

All week you've been bashing? It's only Tuesday.

In any case...they are doing back end updates, most likely. Things you'll never see but need to be done.

Fenton · 01/10/2013 15:52

at back end updates

ProfYaffle · 01/10/2013 15:54

yyy! It's driving me mad too, happens all the sodding time.

greensmoothiegoddess · 01/10/2013 15:54

Yep - for 6 days or so, Tee.

I do wonder how other sites manage to do 'updates' and other really important stuff that needs to be done without constant disruption.

I wouldn't feel frustrated if it was once in a while. But it's pretty ongoing for me.

OP posts:
greensmoothiegoddess · 01/10/2013 15:54

wonders what a back end update is

OP posts:
thebody · 01/10/2013 15:56

yes agree, need a good old back end re load, whatever that is! Grin

humphryscorner · 01/10/2013 15:57

Grin I thought I'd pissed more people off .

AngelDelightIsIndeedDelightful · 01/10/2013 15:58

YANBU at all. I have no problem with back end updates Wink, I just wish they weren't done during my lunch hour the only time at work when I am actually allowed to be on the internet.

Tee2072 · 01/10/2013 16:07

A back end update is exactly what it sounds like. Some sort of coding up date to the base code of the site. The stuff you and I don't see, but the site won't work without.

greensmoothiegoddess · 01/10/2013 16:09

Ahhh riiiight still none the wiser

OP posts:
greensmoothiegoddess · 01/10/2013 16:10

It would be good if someone in an official capacity could give some feedback though.

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 01/10/2013 16:11

Then report the thread. They'll never see it unless you do.

Or repost in Site Stuff where they might see it.

JakeBullet · 01/10/2013 16:13

Yeah...YANBU...it happens an awful lot.

Pixel · 01/10/2013 16:34

Well, I get the message all the time but I'm starting to wonder if it's always true or are MN trying to tell me something?, as 9 times out of 10 if I go back to the previous page and then click again on the one I actually wanted then it's fine again.

If they want to do any updates or suchlike then can they please do them late? Then I might be forced to get an early night instead of sitting on my bum for hours mumsnetting Grin.

olibeansmummy · 01/10/2013 16:40

There is a thread in site stuff already. They've apologised and said they're trying to sort it, but it seems to be getting worse not better...
