To slag off someone else's profession?

Mawgatron · 30/09/2013 21:39

E.g. Nurses don't really care about their patients.

Or firefighters just sit on their arses at the station most of the time so why are they whinging?

Or the police are all corrupt.

Actually, all of these opinions are bollocks. But I wouldn't dream of slagging off a profession that I have no proper understanding of, so why do so many people feel the need to slag off the hardworking teachers of this country? GRRRRRR!

My point, retropear, is that it is actually quite rude to slag off someone else's profession. I wouldn't do that to someone else, so why should I not be hurt when I have to constantly read shit in the media about how crap I apparently am? Surely treat others with the respect they deserve...

There is a whole education section- with sub sections. What are posters supposed to discuss in them?Confused

My dc have had fab teachers and utterly dire teachers.

thebody · 30/09/2013 22:01

social workers though, come on, sloppy left wing airy fairy tosses who deliberately break up happy families but stand by and do nothing about REAL abuse.

health visitors, lazy arse nasty new mother haters!

politicians lie all the time!! shit that's correct!! Grin

Retropear · 30/09/2013 22:01

I haven't noticed that Maw.

Mawgatron · 30/09/2013 22:02

So why aren't you a little more balanced when discussing the teaching profession?

OP posts:
Retropear · 30/09/2013 22:03

I am.Hmm

Namechangesforthehardstuff · 30/09/2013 22:04

Claraschu you know most of us aren't actually in the US right?

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 30/09/2013 22:04

I long for people to slag off my profession. It would mean that people had heard of us!

(I'm an actuary btw.)

Retropear · 30/09/2013 22:05

I have stuck up for teachers over the years(having been one). I have also asked for advice, praised and moaned.

Teachers and schools vary.

Mawgatron · 30/09/2013 22:06

You aren't! I fail to see a single post by you where you don't slate teachers! If your children have been taught by good and bad teachers in equal measure, why not acknowledge that a little more in your numerous narky comments on various threads?

Data analysts - sit on their bums drinking coffee and pressing a button every now and again

Mawgatron · 30/09/2013 22:06

I don't know what an actuary is, but I have heard they are all cock burgers...

Call centre workers= thick automatons who deserve the abuse they get on the telephone.

thebody · 30/09/2013 22:08

BlackeyedSusan · 30/09/2013 22:08

mum of to... you mean you sit around and play dice to get your numberrs?

HangingGardenofBabbysBum · 30/09/2013 22:09

Accountants just fix for you to pay WAY too much tax.

Road markers just leave a tiny big off outside your house so it drives you slowly mad over time.

Butchers scratch their bottoms out the back when they're hatcheting your chops bare-handed.

Bus drivers slow down when they see you running so everyone else on the bus gets a laugh and then speed up while you're throwing up in the gutter.

Modern Artists really are having a Massive Fucking Laugh. Broken bricks and a few ripped up bits of sack. That'll be €$¥¥¥$$¥¥¥¥¥€€€¥ please.

PennySillin · 30/09/2013 22:10

Actuarys? FGS I mean wt actual f do they do all day? (No seriously - what do they do? Grin)

BoneyBackJefferson · 30/09/2013 22:11

claraschu
"In the US, one in 57 doctors lose their licence, but in major US cities only 1 in 1000 teachers get fired for bad performance. Is this because teachers are better trained and more competent than doctors? No, it's because the bad teachers tend to hang on to their jobs, as it is so hard to get rid of them."

As you are busy quoting figures do you know
How many teachers drop out during training?
How many drop out during their NQT year?
Drop out after the NQT year?
Drop out after 3 years?

Go find out it may enlighten you as to why "only 1 in 1000 teachers get fired for bad performance".

LaurieFairyCake · 30/09/2013 22:12

Actuaries - fancy accountants who get paid more cos no one knows what they do Wink

Grin
WilsonFrickett · 30/09/2013 22:12

Bloody actuarys and the numbers and trends and stuff that isn't to do with insurance underwriting, even though I was convinced it was for the last 20 years...

The target audience for this site is parents. Parents are going to have opinions about teachers...

Retropear · 30/09/2013 22:14

Utter tosh Maw.

I have voiced my disagreement on the current strike and attitude on 3 current threads which I am entitled to do.That is not slating the profession.

Persecution complex methinks.

I name change regularly believe you me I have argued the teacher corner many a time- when it is appropriate.

Mawgatron · 30/09/2013 22:15

Don't children go to hospital/ live in houses that catch fire/ need the police occasionally?

No other profession gets as much grief on here. It's really unfair, because many of us truly are doing the best we can for other people's children...

caramelwaffle · 30/09/2013 22:17

I agree with Custardo's "robust unions" comment.
