To think if you pay £70 for passes you shouldn't have to pay extras ?

Went to a Holiday Site and paid the above for passes for 5 of us (2 adults , 2 children , would have been 3 adults but somebody had to pull out) , ,Passes are for entry to swimming pool, amusements, club house and dining areas . . Fair Do;s. However on top of that if the kids want to do archery , target shooting, aqua diving etc its extras . Considering we only ate out on site once , and went to one bar one night for karaoke and kids used them to get in the swimming pool Im a bit miffed about it . .

Well, surely you knew what you were paying for and what would cost you extra. It's the sort of choice we all make on a daily basis - if something is good value or not. You made a choice that it was, the fact that you didn't take full advantage of them isn't their fault. If everything was included they would be far too expensive for the average person. This is a good compromise.

Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:16

No I did not know beforehand never having been to a Holiday Park before ..

Perhaps you have oodles of money to spend on things .. I do not . .

OP posts:
Minnieisthedevilmouse · 28/09/2013 15:19

Doesn't make sense. If you don't have oodles of cash why didn't you make more use of what you did buy?

Your mistake. You know now for next time!

WMittens · 28/09/2013 15:20

However on top of that if the kids want to do archery , target shooting, aqua diving etc its extras .

Absolutely, the extra staff required for supervision, instruction, equipment briefing/demonstration don't need to be paid.

Unless you like the idea of your kids doing archery and shooting unsupervised.

Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:21

Oh you are harsh . . lol . .

Point taken though . First and last holiday in a Holiday Park I think . Not like the activities I mentioned were cheap either .

OP posts:
Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:22

The staff member who done Archery with the children was the same one who done shooting and was a swimming pool worker . . hardly somebody brought in from outside and of course I would not like the idea of it unsupervised . what a stupid thing to say !!

Is this for a week or a weekend?

To be honest, although I can see it's annoying it's also inevitable. The holidays are generally quite cheap and they're clawing back whatever they can. £70 is £14 each which would be less than four swims at home [gulp]

We are going to one next weekend and the pool etc are already included. Believe me, we won't be doing anything that isn't free (pool, beach, Long Walks).

Hope you had fun anyway.

QuintessentialShadows · 28/09/2013 15:24

"Perhaps you have oodles of money to spend on things .. I do not . ."

Sounds like you do, if you spent £70 for a day out at the pool.

edam · 28/09/2013 15:24

I'm on your side, Rachel - the 'extra' charges for passes should cover all activities. And actually they aren't optional extras, you have to buy them, so they should be included in the price. Sneaky pricing as you think it's cheaper than it really is.

TigOldBitties · 28/09/2013 15:25

I think this just makes it clear that you should really check what you're paying for.

Lots of holiday places, leisure centres, amusement parks will suggest passes but they aren't what they're cracked up to be.

Always check what isn't included as well as what is.

LeGavrOrf · 28/09/2013 15:26

It is sneaky pricing, I can see why you were annoyed.

Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:26

It was for a weekend not a Day , , Or are you being delibritely difficult ?? I said it was used for Pool, the Bar and one night dining out ! If you can't say anything sensible say nothing !! Advice I wanted , not an attack , ,

OP posts:
Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:27

Thank You those who see its a tad of a rip of f. . All I wanted was to give my children a small holiday and got hit with those extras . .

OP posts:
lilola · 28/09/2013 15:29

handing you a hard hat...

Merlotmonster · 28/09/2013 15:29

£7 per person per day doesnt seem a ripoff??

WMittens · 28/09/2013 15:30

The staff member who done Archery with the children was the same one who done shooting and was a swimming pool worker . . hardly somebody brought in from outside and of course I would not like the idea of it unsupervised . what a stupid thing to say !!

"Brought in from outside" - they're still a fucking employee, quite possibly with first aid qualifications, pretty much guaranteed to be a GNAS-qualified (sorry: Archery GB, as they are now) archery coach, plus whatever the equivalent target shooting quals are. They are not cheap and coaches have to renew their qualifications.

Do your research better in future.

And actually they aren't optional extras, you have to buy them, so they should be included in the price.

Why aren't they optional? OP said "...if the kids want to do..." They're not mandatory.

Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:31

lol . Ty lilola . Lesson learnt though as would rather save up for Butlins or somewhere I think in future .

OP posts:
IcedTeaOneSugar · 28/09/2013 15:32

Does that include accommodation?

Rachel778 · 28/09/2013 15:32

Oh aren;t you a lovely person WMittens ?? Do not swear at me !! Im not swearing at you !! Do you WORK on a Holiday Park ? You seem very defensive and Im about to REPORT YOU . . No need to SWEAR.

OP posts:
HorryIsUpduffed · 28/09/2013 15:33

I agree, I think.

£7pppn is quite reasonable if everyone swam once or twice a day and went to a show even if the show was hilariously rubbish. It's just a shame it wasn't made more obvious to you what the passes covered before you made plans to do things that cost extra.

And I certainly don't think you should be rude to people about getting the timescale wrong, since you didn't say how long you were there. If you'd been there a full week it would have been £2pppn which is piss all.

WMittens · 28/09/2013 15:33

Advice I wanted , not an attack

No, you want people to agree with you and throw a strop if they don't.

QuintessentialShadows · 28/09/2013 15:33

So did the price include drinks and dinner for all of you for two nights?

Sorry, never been to a holiday park so not sure what the price should include.

lilola · 28/09/2013 15:33
Hmm
HorryIsUpduffed · 28/09/2013 15:33

Oh and MN allows swearing so that report will get you nowhere.

I fucking love swearing.
