To think if you pay £70 for passes you shouldn't have to pay extras ?

Went to a Holiday Site and paid the above for passes for 5 of us (2 adults , 2 children , would have been 3 adults but somebody had to pull out) , ,Passes are for entry to swimming pool, amusements, club house and dining areas . . Fair Do;s. However on top of that if the kids want to do archery , target shooting, aqua diving etc its extras . Considering we only ate out on site once , and went to one bar one night for karaoke and kids used them to get in the swimming pool Im a bit miffed about it . .

Good point Harold - the passes or entry cover the basic things that anyone might reasonably do and which cost the same to run regardless of how many people turn up, rather than the more age-, skill- or interest-specific activities that have limited numbers.

Advice I wanted , not an attack

It's Yoda!

LeGavrOrf · 28/09/2013 19:19

Oh Christ that sounds like something out of Alan partridge. I would have roared.

LeGavrOrf · 28/09/2013 19:19

That's to Porto and her fighting knights.

RobotLover68 · 28/09/2013 19:25

Haha at shut on Saturday. Yes that's the strange thing about North Devon theme parks, a lot of them are shut on Saturdays because of the old tradition that Saturday was changeover day

oh we wondered if that's what it was - we also found it difficult to eat in a restaurant between 3pm and 6pm - they were shut - WTAF? I thought we were in a holiday resort! Grin

HoneyDragon · 28/09/2013 19:27

Shat, I suppose that should be actually. I don't often feel the need to conjugate that particular verb

See. It's the posts like that that make me develop crushes on people I have never met. I love Mumsnet.

OhDearNigel · 28/09/2013 19:30

Ah, the traditional windbag thread. Op makes confusing post, gets huffy because people can't follow the convoluted account and then wheels out Amanda Holden

It must be saturday

LeGavrOrf · 28/09/2013 19:34

Yes, you have to go back to the 70s when holidaying in Ilfracombe and the like. The bed and breakfasts still advertise hot and cold in all rooms, and boast of holding a full fire certificate on their advertising.

Honey you should come to the mumsnet meet up and meet Porto in person, she is fabulous.

LeGavrOrf · 28/09/2013 19:34

To be fair though Nigel people were unnecessarily arsey to the poor sod.

Portofino · 28/09/2013 19:43

Yes sometimes advertising is particularly misleading. You think you are getting x,y,z and in reality you get feck all without paying extra. Centre Parks seem to be very guilty for this.

EduCated · 28/09/2013 19:45

I love it when B&Bs advertise all rooms with en-suite and colour TV. Oh how far we've come.

Portofino · 28/09/2013 19:46

It annoys me when the likes of Keycamp advertise that they are close to an airport but forget to mention that sheets and towels all have to be paid for as extras or bring your own. In your 15kg Ryanair allowance Hmm

PeppiNephrine · 28/09/2013 19:47

Forget to mention how? Its very clear in the booking that you pay for sheets and towels. There is no suggestion that you bring your own if you are flying!

Portofino · 28/09/2013 19:51

I was looking at Siblu for a holiday next year. Somewhere we have been before. Ticks all the boxes for location, pools, other kids for dd etc. They wanted £200 per night for a mobile home! Sorry but you could stay in a hotel, get breakfast and housekeeping for that.

PeppiNephrine · 28/09/2013 20:29

don't know when you're looking but I pay 50€ or so a night for a 8berth top of the range mobile.

We stayed at a Haven site once and paid extra for our 4 & 5 year olds to do junior fencing. It was held in the bar that was dimly lit all day and night. They put helmets on the kids, obscuring what little vision they had and gave them foam swords. They ended up just bashing each other on the heads with them. Not worth the extra cost.

Even the scuba diving instructors at center parcs double as waiters.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 28/09/2013 23:02

I live just down the road from Warwick castle and had held out for eight long years.

Ah sweet freedom.

I now have an annual pass and one for Kenilworth castle which makes it feel slightly more reasonable as we can go for picnics without paying for parking or a hundred and gazillion pounds to watch the trebuchet. We have been 8 times since Easter. I know all the words to the fighting demonstration.

Kenilworth (about 7 miles from Warwick) is just as good and much less Disney.

This thread is wonderful! OP appears talking like Yoda, threatens to report for ridiculous reasons, gets deleted herself for personal attacks and then becomes a handy tourist guide. Marvellous Grin

oh we loved Warwick Castle! we ( 2 adults and 2 children) went this summer when they had horrible histories there. it was fab and only cost us £16 in tescos vouchers. took a packed lunch. didn't pay extra for merlin or the dungeon because the kids are too little for that. climbed the tower (probably too slowly sorry) watched the knights fighting, the jousting, the birds of prey show, the trebuchet (which admittedly does take forever). also looked around an exhibition about the kingmaker which was a bit madame tussauds but still good and had a look through all of the victorisn rooms. loved it!

lilola · 29/09/2013 01:59

gutted OP hasn't returned, I was looking forward to more
