... lunch today with dc at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Had to wait 10 minutes just to order our food at the bar, then after I'd ordered and paid we were told it was a 40-minute wait for food to come out of the kitchen. I think they should have mentioned this when they showed us to our table, then we could have chosen to go somewhere else.

And they'd run out of onion rings, so the only 'nibbles' available to bridge the gap were the monkey nuts, which the dc won't eat. By 2.15 on Sunday, ffs...

YANBU. They should have said something.

As an aside is the food any good once it arrives?

I would have asked for my money back then.

I don't think a 40 minute wait is unacceptable, but not being told before you order and pay is very unacceptable!!

The only reason we didn't leave straight away when we found out was we'd already spent 15 minutes in the restaurant - and it was already 2 pm. Everywhere was busy and they promised to bring the drinks out quickly - although that even took 10 mins.

Food is OK, but nothing special considering the price.

I refuse to go there as you have to order the food yourself.

I don't mind ordering the food myself if it gets served quickly and efficiently. But their system clearly can't cope at busy times of day.

it's not cheap enough to be cheap, and not nice enough to be nice
not sure how it stays in business

I like the bunless grilled chicken with satay sauce and alfalfa sprouts.

Not sure I'd wait 40 minutes with small children for it though....

Thanks Merguez. We were in Cabots Circus Bristol, and it was a toss up between GBK and Frankie & Bennys. We went to the latter, it was ok but ££ for what it was.

40 minutes in 'small children time' = 3 hours.

I once waited 2 hours in a Caribbean restaurant for my food. There was a group of us and we kept asking where it was only to be told it was being marinated. We just got drunker and drunker and by the time the meal came, I was so pissed I can hardly remember eating it. Funnily enough, it didn't stay in business long

If rather wait 50 minutes for anything rather than eat the shit that Frankie and Benny's dish up. It's all microwaved crap so you wouldn't have had to wait at least!

Email them, GBK I mean. They are v v good and will send you vouchers.

I will not be going to Frankie and Benny's again. TGI's next time then pink. Really liked Cabot's Circus-we live about an hour away, it was our first time there.

Lots of better places at Cabot zizzis, coal, giraffe although on a Sunday lunchtime most things r busy

DSs are 14 and 11 and think they know what they like Lady. they were wrong.

Oooh, I love Cabots too sparkling, I'm half an hour away. Not been to the GBK though.

We used to go to Cribbs Causeway but that's gone a bit meh IMO Pat. Cabot's is much better.

Agreed, although parking is free at Cribbs and from door to parking space is only 22 mins so quicker!
I noted they had a Wagamama there when I went last, I do like Wagamama. The rest of the food court is shit!

Email them, I did it as we had a disappointing meal that included stale burger buns and brown avocado. We were emailed back an apology, sent a free meal for 2 voucher (burger, drink and side of choice) and when we arrived were basically told to order what we wanted.

It was much better 2nd time around.

Do they actually have nice burgers? So often in the UK "gourmet" burgers have rusk in them. That's an abomination.
