to think that 11.30 isn't an "early night"?

My DH always says "lets have an early night", (euphamism for sex) but he takes so long getting ready for bed that it's always 11 - 11.30, and after being in my feet from 7 am I am knackered by then. ANd how long do you take to get ready for bed, and what about your DP? I take about 10 minutes, tops, to have a quick wash (shower in the morning), clean teeth and go to the loo, he takes well over 1/2 an hour, is that normal?

Tbh, I'm with your DH on this one. Blush

It takes me ages to get ready for bed and 11:30 would be an early night for me.

I think I'm in the minority though.

PeppiNephrine · 21/09/2013 20:49

11.30 is a really early night for night owls. 2-3am is a more natural bedtime for me.

Cupcake1985 · 21/09/2013 20:49

We are only in our 20s but always tired from work so 10pm is bed time, earlier if early night. Shower in the morning so literally brush teeth and bed. Ten mins. Yanbu I would be pooped if was you!

Sirzy · 21/09/2013 20:50

11.30 is a late night for me!

Takes me 10-15 minutes to get ready for bed.

MummyPig24 · 21/09/2013 20:50

I'm in bed now! I won't go to sleep yet but it took me a few minutes to clean my teeth, get changed and go to the loo.

PoppyWearer · 21/09/2013 20:51

An early night for us would be before 10pm.

DH and I tend to pull on our pjs after getting the DCs to sleep, and crash into bed after a quick pee/teeth clean. Takes a few minutes, tops.

Lj8893 · 21/09/2013 20:51

11.30 wouldn't necessarily be an early night for me but wouldn't be a late night either. It's about the right time for me to go to bed.
But 11.30 for my dp is an early night, but then he finishes work 9/10ish every night.

Yanbu on the getting ready for bed though, it takes me 5 minutes!

ilovepowerhoop · 21/09/2013 20:52

during the week bedtime is between 10 and 10.30pm so 11.30 would be a late night. I brush teeth and go to bed so no faffing about.

mikkii · 21/09/2013 20:53

I'm really quick at getting ready for bed, but 11.30 would be early for me.

izzydazzling · 21/09/2013 20:54

Nope, YANBU 11.30 is not my idea of an early night if I'd been up since 7am.

Although, having said that to DH, actual time is irrelevant if it's just his way of saying let's have sexy time.

Your DH sounds lovely and clean my husband doesn't even wash his hands after having a poo the dirty beast

candycoatedwaterdrops · 21/09/2013 20:54

Wow, very late for me! I have an illness that leaves me very tired though, so I'm prob not the best judge. That said, even before my illness, I'd consider 11.30 a lateish night if I was only bobbing around at home but not 'late' if I was out IYKWIM?

izzydazzling · 21/09/2013 20:55

^^grammar fail, sorry.

TippiShagpile · 21/09/2013 20:55

Early night is 9 for me (bliss) but I'm up at 5/5.30

Hunfriend · 21/09/2013 20:56

11.30 is early ?! Confused
Er I tend to go to bed between 9-10pm
11.30 on a work/school night is late !!

Mintyy · 21/09/2013 20:56

11.30 is very early for me.

PeppiNephrine · 21/09/2013 20:56

going to bed at 9pm would feel like sleeping in the afternoon.

sparkle12mar08 · 21/09/2013 20:58

A genuine early night for me is about 9:30pm, with lights out by 10pm. So if dh wants an 'early night' I prefer this to be hinted at by around 8 ish, so that I can re-adjust my expectations as we almost never get to sleep before about 11ish due to the deed and all the usual piddling about on top of that, and I don't like being up that late. I get positively annoyed if we don't go up till 10:30-11 ish and he then starts on about an 'early night'!

cathpip · 21/09/2013 20:58

11.30 is late in my book, and yes my dh takes ages. I spend about 10 minutes getting ready he takes about 30, so its no surprise that I'm asleep when he finally comes out of the bathroom. How we have managed to conceive dc3 I will never know......

WandaDoff · 21/09/2013 20:59

11.30 is early for me, but I'm a night owl.

SummerRain · 21/09/2013 21:00

11.30 would be an early night for me. 12-1 most nights, frequently later.

If I went to be at 9pm I wouldn't be able to sleep, no matter how tired I was (I know as occasionally when I'm ill or overtired I try going to bed around 10ish and end up ying there awake til 11/12 anyway so it's pointless!)

TippiShagpile · 21/09/2013 21:00

All depends what time you get up. I like to be asleep by 10 so I get my 7 hours and when that alarm goes off just after 5 I can begin the day feeling like a human.

CustardOmlet · 21/09/2013 21:00

I'm off to bed now and plan to be snoring in 10mins!

yummymumtobe · 21/09/2013 21:07

We both take about ten mins in the bathroom. Dh has a friend who when he stays is in the bathroom for 25 mins before bed. I always go up early if he stays so I don't have to wait for him to finish. We find it a bit icky. What can he be DOING all that time? Not having a shower or anything do what takes so long?!

Justforlaughs · 21/09/2013 21:08

cathpip exactly my point! In fact you could be me, minus 2 kids Grin
At about 10 pm he decided we should have an early night, I get ready for bed and am virtually, if not entirely asleep by the time he arrives in the bedroom. In fact, I'm struggling to keep my eyes open right now Grin

8.30 is about normal for me right now. I'm currently having a late night....damned pg hormones and sleepless children, I have no life!
