In today's Guardian he was given a page and a half to waffle on about what happened at the GQ awards (his comments about Hugo Boss). (sorry no link, doing this on my phone). I can't remember when anyone, let alone an attention-seeking nitwit like RB, was given this much space and was wondering if anyone thought the same.

He's probably shagging someone highish up.

agree with tethersend. I think RB wanted to get his side of the story over, wrote the piece and then knew the Guardian would be more likely to print it than anyone else.

Plus most of it was him sucking up to Noel Gallagher in a most unedifying way.

His manner is a little aggravating but I thought his speech at the awards and the article were pretty spot on.

I found it entertaining and insightful. He makes me laugh and he couldn't write a shorter article-that's the way he speaks!
More so than Kate and Wil's first night out without baby which was featured on many papers' news pages.

RB is god. Fact. FACT!

I've seen him up close in Blackpool, doing some sort of radio from an ice-cream van. He looked like he needed a good wash.

I did find the article entertaining and he made some interesting points about politics and the media. It is not a front page story but this kind of article would sell newspapers because it is a rather frothy gossipy piece. He delivered for the guardian an article that fits their agenda and yet provides a way of marketing himself in the same way thw politicians he despises do. But having said all of that, his treatment at this event was pretty undeserved. His speech was edgy but not factually incorrect. He had a right to his say about what went down that evening.

Hugo Boss died in the 1940s. The thing the other night was celebrating the Hugo Boss fashion house, not the man himself.

Don't like Russell Brand, so didn't read article. The war ended 68 years ago, so I don't get what he point he was making. Saw him on Question Time, and thought he was rambling. Wore a vest to give evidence to a Parliamentary Committee. He's too old to act like Bolshie teenager. I'm usually quite an understanding and tolerant person!!

Agree Oi Brand is a fantastic writer

Because he attacked the Tory party and Boris Johnson - a guaranteed way to attract praise from Guardian readers and comments (1,000+ so far).

That's not a criticism, his articles are extremely well written.

Just spent 10 minutes abridging that article to turn it into a practice GCSE English Language Paper text. (Q3 - tracking thoughts/feelings).

He's a good writer. Does need slightly more ruthless editing than he usually gets, but he's engaging, imaginative & actually rather well-read, I think.

The Guardian is a very lazy newspaper, they rarely have articles on there which challlenge preconceptions.

The Guardian is chasing the advertisers, their entire content is free online so they need to get cash from somewhere.
Lots of random celeb stories now and much royal family coverage which they try to dress up as "news".
