This is the 4th or 5th month I've tried to get on with my new mooncup. I really have. It doesn't seem to like me at all Confused

I can't be bothered trying any more, it's ridiculous. I thought it would revolutionise my whole life but I've been let down by the MN hype

AIBU to give up? Anyone else had similarly rubbish experience with it?

Try compressing it with your fingers while its insitu to get the air out and then give it a twist when it's opened up again.

I love mine! I have to empty it every hour or so for a 18hr period at the start. They can be a bit messy, I've slatted the bathroom wall on more than one occasions and I have to be really carefull about getting blood on my blouse at work.. All that considered I'd rather put up with that than shove bleached cotton up my chuff (and hell would freeze over before I'd flush it down the toilet! That's awful whoever said it!) or wear thrush inducing pads.

I love mine, ten years in and I now consider any other form of sanitory protection a bit weird. Applicator tampons are not my friend. The only learning curve was realising I had to cut all of the stem off.

And boyfriends always love it. I think that's what makes me so sad and confused when women find it gross.

I love mine but it took me months andmonths to get it right. I was pushing it up too far, which would create weird suction that made me feel like my cervix was getting pulled out!

Now I wear it much lower and no more pain / no more leaking. Also when it was higher it sort of felt like it was squashing my ureathra from the inside, but again wearing it lower has stopped that too.

I also got bad thrush but then I realised washing it in v hot water was enough and stopped using soap so no more thrush.

I could never use tampons now, thought if them makes me feel a bit sick

Well I've had a slightly more successful evening with it, having decided to give it another go - no leaks for 3 hours! Grin
Still not totally sure where I'm going wrong so will do more investigating on t'interwebs. Smile

I love the idea, but I found the suction too good!

It was the second day that I was using it and staying at a friend's. She'd left for work and her DH was going to drive me to the station. I nip to the loo to empty it before leaving and couldn't get it out. I was trying EVERYTHING I could think of, but it just wasn't coming out. Not only that, but it was making some sort of farting noise - LOUD farting noise - the more i tried. Worse still was that friend's DH was waiting at the front door (at least to start with) and would have been able to hear the fanny farts.

I've never used it since. Have decided I prefer pads.

Buttons is the problem that you keep leaking? That probably just means you have to empty it more often. With time you'll get used to how long you can leave it in for.

twosmallbuttons · 06/09/2013 09:43

Yes I keep leaking but I notice every time I go to the loo, I can't seem to insert it properly (after about 50 attempts in total) Confused
I'll keep trying.
