And why?
I love Snape, Ginny and Dobby.
OK, that's 3.
Snape because he is a hero, and I knew he was good when Dumbledore said "Please" when he was about to die. There is no way Dumbledore would have begged for his life, and Snape's face twisted horribly when he said "Avada Kadavara". When he asked Harry to "Look at me" I sobbed. I half thought it was because he wanted to look into Lily's eyes as he died, and half thought he wanted Harry's understanding.

Ginny because she reminds me of my younger self, flaming red curls and all that!

Dobby because I loved reading his parts out loud to my children (we cried laughing at the ironing ears parts), and his heroic demise.

There are so many more. I miss the series so much. Come on Jk, write the prequel please!

Minerva McGonagall...bad fucking ass, took no shit, stepped up to the plate and fought the good fight without breaking a sweat. She was amazing (also shares the same first name as my DD, so a bit biased Grin)

Second is Snape, 'orrible greasy swine, but a moral, strong fellow

JerseySpud · 03/09/2013 20:00

Snape snape Severus snape

Its Alan Rickman. I even hear his voice when reading the books.

SilverOldie · 03/09/2013 20:01

Hands off Snape, Alan Rickman is MINE Grin
Dobby - how I sobbed when he died. I want my very own Dobby
Sirius

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2013 20:01

Noooooooo. How did I forget Neville?

Mr W is hilarious. I love the bit when the boys 'borrow' the car to rescue Harry and Mr W's so keen to hear how it flew.

lljkk · 03/09/2013 20:08

Luna Lovegood. Nutty, fearless, honest.
I think I would love Molly Weasley if she wasn't so 1-dimensional.

McNewPants2013 · 03/09/2013 20:10

I have a story about the 7th book actually, yes im still friends with her.

I was 8 months pregnant with DD when 7th book came out and i was getting pissed off, really excited about it, friend calls up, and asks me how far i got. You know what she did.......

She said "So you dont know that Snape dies then"

Bitch!!!!
Still aint let her forget that one.

Oh i got 122 in the Quiz.

JerseySpud · 03/09/2013 20:30

I had dinner with Alan Rickman. Well, we were in the same restaurant at the same time. Grin

Hermione - Because in many ways she is very similar to myself so I can relate to her. She is also caring but clever whereas most forms of literature seem to pit these qualities against eachother, so nice to see them put together.

Dobby - Because he is sweet and I can't help have a soft spot for him.

Snape - Very developed character and has lots of layers.

I don't actually like James Potter in any which way. No matter how great he was in the order, he was a complete arrogant twat and I wouldn't have any time for someone like that. Complete eejit if you ask me!

I'm not the biggest fan on Harry in some aspects as he's inherited some of the arrogance from his father. Plus he seems to think everything is about him. I know a majority of the time it is, but a bit of modesty goes a long way. However, he had gone through a lot of horrible stuff and a very relatable character i.e. moodiness in book 5, wanting to go on his own in book 7 etc.

Good thread. Loving the HP inspired threads at the moment - I must confess I am a bit of an anorak!

Ezio · 03/09/2013 20:38

I think my book ruining friend, would sell me to the devil to get Alan.

Nanny0gg · 03/09/2013 20:41

Ron.

I'd love him as a SiL!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2013 20:45

I have spoken to Alan Rickman (well, I mainly simpered tbh). :)

FairOfFaceButFullOfWoe · 03/09/2013 20:50

Draco Malfoy...don't ask why because I have no logical reason or Sirius black because he kicks arse.

Thurlow · 03/09/2013 20:54

Sirius, because he sounds as though he was scrummy when he was younger.

Snape was probably the most interesting.

runes · 03/09/2013 20:57

WTF is wrong with all you people??? Clearly Albus Brian Wulfric Dumbledore is THE best literary character ever. I can only assume your opinions are based on the woefully inaccurate big screen portrayal by Michael Gambon, why did Richard Harris have to die, he was perfect.Sad

MortifiedAdams · 03/09/2013 20:57

Lupin. Gutted when he died.

BelaLugosisShed · 03/09/2013 21:03

Winky, she should have been in the film.
Also, Peeves, DD is still outraged that Rik Mayall was cut from the film, she's the biggest Potter fan ever, she grew up with the books and films and wears a HP Quiditch shirt to bed.
I've got a Marauders map mug, DH has a Ministry of magic one and DD has a Gryffendor, plus a set of house mugs and glasses.
Can't wait for next year and the HP world expansion at Universal Orlando, we get to ride the Hogwarts express from platform 9 3/4 ! Grin

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 03/09/2013 21:09

In the books I loved Remus, because he was so awesome, and Sirius. Sirius because he loved Harry, and because he was so tormented, but in spite of everything, his love for Harry gave him some measure of salvation from his torment. I particularly loved his canine antics though Smile

I have a lot of love for Luna and Neville too. Neville pulling the sword out of the sorting hat is one of my favourite moments too - and when Dumbledore gave him points for standing up to his friends in the first book. Not all bravery is about being the chosen one and being destined for great things. The little, everyday acts of bravery matter too.

In the films, I found a lot more liking for Lucius, Bellatrix and the Weasley twins who I thought were all perfectly performed Grin

soontobeburns · 03/09/2013 21:30

Yey no one had said Draco yet so hes mine.

He is a bastard but you have to feel sorrt for him with his upbringing. He is conditioned to hate mudbloods yet he isn't evil.

His struggle in the 6th book moved me to tears.

I am obsessed with Draco.

mrsjay · 03/09/2013 21:32
