And why?
I love Snape, Ginny and Dobby.
OK, that's 3.
Snape because he is a hero, and I knew he was good when Dumbledore said "Please" when he was about to die. There is no way Dumbledore would have begged for his life, and Snape's face twisted horribly when he said "Avada Kadavara". When he asked Harry to "Look at me" I sobbed. I half thought it was because he wanted to look into Lily's eyes as he died, and half thought he wanted Harry's understanding.

Ginny because she reminds me of my younger self, flaming red curls and all that!

Dobby because I loved reading his parts out loud to my children (we cried laughing at the ironing ears parts), and his heroic demise.

There are so many more. I miss the series so much. Come on Jk, write the prequel please!

Interesting that no one has said Harry or Dumbledore, and only one Hagrid

Neville, there is loads of information about Neville in the books and I think they are as much about him as Harry.

I loved that he pulled the sword of Gryffindor from the sorting hat because only a true Gryffindor would be able to do that and he destroyed the last horcrux. I hated that part in the film because it didn't do him justice and I was getting anxious that he wasn't going to kill Nagini.

I always knew Snape was good because Dumbledore trusted him, but I'm not convinced that he liked Harry and that he was only doing it for Lily, so I'm not sure why Harry named Albus after him.

LaFataTurchina · 03/09/2013 19:17

Love Hermione, like someone said above she reminds me of me right down to the hair!

I also love Luna, I like how she is so curious about the world and also how behind the wierdness she is a really caring, insightful person.

Ezio · 03/09/2013 19:17

Snape, because hes soooo misunderstood.
Lucius, because hes proper sexy.
Sirius, because hes lovely.
Bella because shes batshit crazy.

I love Harry Potter, the tour in London was bloody amazing, i wanna go again.

JustBecauseICan · 03/09/2013 19:20

Wandaaa- yes, I agree. I think the premise of the plot was excellent, and JK prob bowed into the churning out 800 pages every 2 yrs thing and didn't quite tie things off as she would have done if she had had more time and used my ideas

I find Ginny bland and boring. She is a non-character. (My version Harry and Luna Grin)

Snape and Harry needed a proper reconciliation and laying of cards on the table which never happened for Snape-likes-Harry to work. And James was clearly a total knobber.

Wandaaa · 03/09/2013 19:21

I also have a bit of a thing for Sirius or it might be Gary Oldman Grin

Thepursuitofhappiness · 03/09/2013 19:22

Luna Lovegood.

Is this an AIBU??

Ezio · 03/09/2013 19:22

Wanda I do love Gary Oldham.

JustBecauseICan · 03/09/2013 19:23

Sirius/Gary is very good.

I saw DR saying that he played his best scenes alongside GO. maybe he dropped the plank of wood method momentarily because GO was such an amazing actor.

I love how some of the minor characters have a Big Bit to do as well. Like Madame Pomfrey being the first to hold her wand up when Dumbledore died.

Wandaaa · 03/09/2013 19:24

That's the thing, I wasn't bothered about Sirius in the books but I love him in the films.

Ezio · 03/09/2013 19:27

Hermione.....the whole lot of them would have been lost without her.

JustBecauseICan · 03/09/2013 19:31

You see Hermione the character is fab. Emma Watson makes me stabby.

You can see the progression as well from a fab feisty little girl in the first couple to I am Emma Watson and Terribly Famous in the later ones. Which is something Ron doesn't do, for example.

cashmiriana · 03/09/2013 19:31

Remus Lupin. Flawed, idealistic, brave, the nearest thing to a father Harry ever gets (Sirius isn't around long enough to teach him anything much IMHO and spends far too much of TOotP sulking in a room with Buckbeak), and a devoted husband and father.

The cutting of most of the Lupin and Tonks love story from the films is one of their biggest problems, for me.

Although he is a perfect example of nominative determinism. Call your child that and it's no wonder the local wolves come a-calling.

Catmint · 03/09/2013 19:32

Lupin and Tonks.

Awwwwww!

Also, Hermione.

Ezio · 03/09/2013 19:32

Ooh Weasley Twins, naughty little scamps they are.

McNewPants2013 · 03/09/2013 19:34

Ezio, how could i have forgotten them, especially when they drank to polyjuice potion and looked at each other.....look we are identical :)

JustBecauseICan · 03/09/2013 19:35

They are very underrated I think, the twins. Some of their oneliners are ace.

Can you believe I am sitting here pontificating and haven't even seen DH2 yet!!

KoalaFace · 03/09/2013 19:37

Hagrid, Dumbledore, Molly Weasley.

But my favourites have to be Fred and George. So lovely and full of life. And hilarious. I mean in the books though. They got a bit lost in the movies.

Taffeta · 03/09/2013 19:39

Remus, Luna and Neville.

Can't bear Hermione.

thegreylady · 03/09/2013 19:45

Hedwig, Sirius, Hagrid and Mrs Weasley

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2013 19:45

Agh - I can't choose!

Dobby - because he is brave and a revolutionary!
Kreecher - because he is only horrible because of his conditioning and because of his devotion to Regulus and because of the steak and kidney pudding but especially because of the cutlery battle.
Luna - because she is sweet and pure and batty and brave and helpful and out there and has great taste in earrings.
But I love them all.

Flappingandflying · 03/09/2013 19:53

Snape
Luna and neville. Actually I think Neville is just as important as Harry in the deafeat of voldy

Mr weasley. He's just so caring and affable in a bumbling sort of way.

I like the centaurs and Buckbeak.
