I am a huge believer in honesty, so am changing my spin and suggest
aiming for raising laughter from the owner today when you go today, and hopefully a reveal by telling him that your DH had passed on the remarks about the attic and you are now simply dying of curiosity!!!

I live in a victorian terrace that has weird cold spots. When I first moved in the loft hatch kept dropping down. It's dark and cold up there and I've never been up there (I'm not good with ladders and heights) so there's no way I'd be going into anyone else's loft.
