To hate anything other than the term "fart"

I know it's a bit uncouth to hear small children yelling "someone's farted" but the phrases pump, pop, trump, parp and fluff really make me cringe!

Let off wind is probably the only other phrase that doesn't make my teeth itch!

What do your children call it?

We talk about nothing but farts in my house

I have 3 boys and the 2 eldest (4 and 7) insist on telling me everytime they've either done one or need to do one

But what else can I expect from boys really? Haha

squoosh · 28/08/2013 16:50

'Pumped' to me means fucked/shagged/lay down in a bed of roses and made sweet love to.

(I'm trying to appeal to all sensibilities here)

ohnosnow · 28/08/2013 16:56

We call it a windy bum. My 2 year old says my windy bum again mummy and laughs

captainBeaky · 28/08/2013 16:56

I quite like 'fluff' because I was brought up with it, along with 'tuppy'.

stretch · 28/08/2013 16:56

My dad used to tell us off for saying 'fart' when we were younger. Apparently, it's a swear word. Hmm Same with 'crap'. So, for me, children saying 'fart' initally makes me Hmm.
I only ever use that word now, so do DCs. and dad still tells me/them off for it!

MummyPig24 · 28/08/2013 17:02

We say fart. My grandma goes pale if the dcs say it. She also doesn't allow stink, snot, rubbish, hell. We said "popped off" when we were kids.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/08/2013 17:03

I hate them all, including 'fart', but worst of the lot IME is 'pump'. Makes me squirm with embarrassment. I find it embarrassing in non-fart contexts too ? a pair of pumps, or that song that goes 'can you hear us/pumping on your stereo'.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/08/2013 17:03

I must be a bit odd, a like the word fartConfused

There is no ambiguity, you all know what's happened and you can all have a good chuckle!

If anyone said they'd trumped in this house, the dses would not have a clue what they were on about!

I am terribly immature though and still laugh at fartsBlush

FunnysInLaJardin · 28/08/2013 17:05

always a fart in our house. DH tried to make me call it poop when DS1 was little ie 'have you pooped' but I was having none of it. Twee nonsense

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 28/08/2013 17:07

Pooped means shat as far as I'm concerned anyway.

ViviPru · 28/08/2013 17:08

Poom poom... that's my favourite. Would you like to come to a party, Poom Poom?

PseudoBadger · 28/08/2013 17:09

Ds woke up this morning and told me that he'd just burped from his bottom. No idea where that phrase came from, probably the childminder!

fluffyraggies · 28/08/2013 17:10

'fluff' ??

Grin

My mum always called it 'boop' when i was a kid. ie Someones booped.

We have 'let one off' or 'farted' in this house.

Only recently learned what 'following through' means.

Amber76 · 28/08/2013 17:11

Have a toddler and its referred to as " a rudie" which I think is sort of cute

ElleBelly · 28/08/2013 17:12

I'm with you, definately farters here, although DP refers to "dropping ones guts" which I hate, and MIL would prefer "tump" which is grim too!

PissesGlitter · 28/08/2013 17:15

It's fart in this house too

If we are being silly its called air biscuits
Ie. I'm making air biscuits get them while their hot (yes we can be disgusting)

My daughter used to tell us to take deep breaths to make it go away quicker haha

CoffeeChocolateWine · 28/08/2013 17:19

You're going to love me then...DH and I both loved Roald Dahl and the BFG as children, so it's a whizpop in our house!

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 28/08/2013 17:22

We say farts, but DS1 and DD1 both learnt to call it an 'oopsie' from nursery Hmm

OnaPromise · 28/08/2013 17:23

My parents said 'pluff', which mortified me as a child. Don't really understand why 'fart' is considered offensive.

It makes you wonder why some words are considered OK and some aren't.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 28/08/2013 17:23

Dd came out with "oh! my bum popped!" when she was 3, and it's just stuck with us (the phrase, not the flatulence).

WafflyVersatile · 28/08/2013 17:26

We say squoosh in our house.

At least we do from now on. Grin

squoosh · 28/08/2013 17:28

HOW RUDE!!!!

Grin
meganorks · 28/08/2013 17:38

I am a fan of trump myself

WafflyVersatile · 28/08/2013 17:38

I meant it to be!

We used to say trump as kids. Now I mostly say fart but I have no problem with other words for it. I find them quite funny.

Ooh, missuss, I've got a storm brewing in the Lower Windypops.

squoosh · 28/08/2013 17:42

Well I'm proud that my name will be born by stinky farts all over the land. I knew I'd be famous one day!
