to not understand why anyone would pay full price RRPs for clothes these days

I can't remember the last time I paid full price for an item of clothing.

I have some good stuff from brands like Whistles, Reiss, Musto, French Connection, Hobbs, LK Bennett and loads more, all of it from Ebay, TKMaxx or picked up in the sales at a fraction of the normal RRP selling price.

Does anyone actually buy full priced clothes from high street shops these days?

I like the sales and TK Maxx but not ebay. There's a kind of jumble saleyness to it that puts me off.
But I can't remember when I last paid full price for something either.

I try to never pay full price for anything whether it is food, a new cooker or carpet.

It's rarely the good stuff that's discounted.

Maax is full of things they couldnt sell in proper shops. Often you are paying quite significant prices for quite hideous 'designer' clothes that should never have seen light of day.

For 'sales' all I usually see is the stuff that they couldn't shift at full price due to nobody actually liking it. I prefer not to buy second hand and I don't like eBay

But if it works for you then great

Um, because they like something and need it right then not if/when it goes on sale. Because they want something when it is actually in season. Because some things rarely are on sale. Because they shop in the likes of primark and new look so things ccheap anyway.

In fairness i haven't really got any new clothes in ages. And there do seem to be sales on all the time these days. But I quite often find myself wishing I could just pay full bloody price and not have to deal with the crowds and inevitable routing about only to discover none of the things I like are in my size!

RRP and MRP are subjective figures anyway though . An item doesn't ever have to have been sold at that price unlike advertised price reductions.

A) because some people can afford to pay full-price, b) because some people like browsing in shops, trying things on and "making a day of it", c) because some people like to be able to easily return things if they don't fit or aren't suitable, d) because some people want the quick fix of being able to go straight to a shop and come home with a new garment, e) because some people will only buy things if they've tried them on beforehand, f) because some people find it frustrating or less enjoyable than "shop shopping" to trawl through eBay looking for the right size at the right price, and don't have time to keep checking eBay to see what's come up or g) some or all of the above.

YANBU I never pay full price but I am really bored of having to shop around for deals and discounts because everything is clearly so overpriced when at RRP.

It just takes up too much time when I'd prefer to go out and buy what I need. Retailers need to stop being greedy and initially fixing their prices so they can look like they are offering deals

YANBU. 90 percent f the time, I get my stuff in sales. The way I see it, the sale price is the actual, fair price for an item of clothing. THe full price just reflects a retailer's greed.

I buy full priced stuff. I never like the stuff that makes it into the sales, it's usually the shit no one wants. I don't like shops that are laid out like jumble sales, too stressful for me.

I buy full-priced stuff for myself because I don't buy that much & I don't have a huge amount of time to shop.

I buy nearly 100% of my kids' stuff on Ebay second hand because their sizes are perfectly predictable and the price is literally a third.

I buy full price clothes. I have looked on eBay a few times but have never seen anything I like/from current season.

I buy a mix. Sometimes the full price is a better deal than buying discounted. Things are discounted because they have not sold. There is often a reason for this.

Some shops price to discount, others do not - whistles for example do not discount, except no sellers. So I suppose it depends on your taste, where you shop and the money you're willing to spend.

Or you can buy in charity shops like I do (a TKMaxx purchase would seem very expensive to me).

I think the most frustrating thing is the constant voucher codes type deals. Even if I could afford full price, I would never do it because there may be a deal on the next day!

itsnothingoriginal Makes a good point. Not just clothes, it's EVERYTHING. I'm frikkin SICK of it.

I also hate jumble sale style shopping - TK MAxx/regular ebay and Fashion Gallery ebay etc and sales in general. Gives me a migraine just thinking about all that ratching through urgh.... elastic bands round shoes in the Next sale

eBay/tk maxx all take time, it's often quicker to dash into specific favourite shops. I find shopping boring, so a quick lap of shops I like whether full price or sales is about all I have the time and enthusiasm for. I hate online shopping, all that waiting for a delivery then the aggro of returning....if I had more time I would rummage around charity shops etc more often.

I hate clothes shopping and rarely see something that I both like and would have the opportunity to wear.

I don't have the patience to rummage through racks and usually find my size isn't there anyway.

For that reason, when I do see something, I'll just snap it up.

If it's on sale, that's a bonus.

I've found the things I wear the most are often the ones I bought at full price - and not from cheap shops. So I guess YABU.

I can never find anything I like in TKMaxx or in the Sales. It all looks to jumble-saley to me.

I need it all on racks of seven or eight of the same thing, all hung near other things of the same colour, or colours that will go with it.

I just don't have the patience to bargain hunt.

I can't be arsed with going through a rack of what might turn out to be 26 size 22 polyester tops in eye-watering colours in the hope that there might be one thing I like in the size I am.

As for Ebay, I just KNOW I'd forget to check for all the right phrases etc on the advert and I'd end up with something that wouldn't fit, had giant sweat circles on it and had been the former property of a dog lover who smokes 60 a day.
