To be shocked at Google? WARNING UPSETTING

I am horrified at Google. My little girl seems to need constant entertainment so to get advice I went on to Google and typed "4 month old baby bored".
Google tends to suggest searches for you before you've typed in the full sentence and one suggestion was "4 month old baby raped" Sad
Of course I never clicked on it, it was probably news article links but I don't want to see upsetting stuff like that being suggested by google.
As for news articles reporting on cases I do wish they'd at least word it differently. I know there are sick nasty people in the world but I just don't want to hear about it.

If anyone dared to touch my little girl now or in the future I would rip their faces off Angry

trinity I'm glad to hear that wasn't just a bad joke. No I'm not making it up, unfortunately. I do ignore but sometimes it's upsetting.

Weird that the autocomplete is different for the google search bar and the actual website, I wonder why.

Incidentally, if your 4 month old is bored, have you got a baby gym? Plonking them outside under a tree is also good (not in the rain).

Montybojangles · 22/08/2013 11:43

I thought this would be a story about google somehow running child slave rings, or torturing puppies. How is it upsetting that the predictive search suggests something that (horribly) has been in the news recently?

Isn't it designed to try to help you find what you want? It doesn't know you are a tad over sensitive, rather than an avid news hound/researcher into child sex abuse!

As others have suggested, best to reset your search settings.

glossyflower · 22/08/2013 11:46

That's what she's bored of - the baby gym! Well after about 5 minutes anyway Smile up until recently she was quite happy to play on her own for short periods of time, now it feels like she wants to be held and me to chatter, sing songs, etc 10 hours a day continuously!
(My first so I don't know what to expect)

CinnabarRed · 22/08/2013 11:48

That's exactly what to expect!

glossyflower · 22/08/2013 11:50

Lol thanks cinna I need to up my ante with her Grin

I found it got more and more fun from here on in!

If she's like mine, she'll start occupying herself again once she can sit up and manipulate toys from hand to hand. So in a month or two, probably.

noblegiraffe · 22/08/2013 12:04

And then she will start launching herself onto her tummy and then crying because she face planted and can't crawl, and you'll have to rescue her a billion times a day (7 months).

CrazyOldCatLady · 22/08/2013 12:47

What's her routine like? She shouldn't be awake for 10 hours continuously, never mind looking to be entertained that much!

glossyflower · 22/08/2013 12:59

Well I was exaggerating!
She wakes up at 5am - 6am, has her first feed of the day. At that time of the morning, I have her in bed with me so she can feed and I can doze. Then another sleep until around 8am -9am. By 10am she has another feed. Then play. Around 12pm-1pm she is down for another nap. It varies in length, sometimes half an hour sometimes 2-3 hours. When she wakes she has another feed around 2pm. Then playing until around 6pm until she gets grumpy and tired. Another feed and I get her settled to bed and she sleeps the whole night.

glossyflower · 22/08/2013 13:00

noble lol yes she has done that once already. She was proper grumpy not being able to roll back!

YABVU. Get a grip.

musicismylife · 22/08/2013 13:05

You don't 'want to hear about it' but you want to start a thread about it Hmm

Buddhagirl · 22/08/2013 13:33

Wow. People like you should not be allowed on the Internet. Naughty Google for showing something upsetting. Sue them. Sue them now.

SPBisResisting · 22/08/2013 14:04

Just so you all know - it's not a contest to see who can be the rudest to the OP. Not everyone, but lots of people seem to want to come on here just to sneer.

glossyflower · 22/08/2013 14:07

Thanks SP I just ignore. They are the kind of people who wouldn't dare sneer at people face to face Grin

SPBisResisting · 22/08/2013 17:38

No problem. You were wring to blame google, but I suppose you figured that out after the 5th or 6th shitty comment.
