To get up and walk out of my job, like, right now?

A bit of background... I work overseas for a huge international company. I have been here 6 months. Soon after I started, I was assigned to work with a guy who is seen as the most difficult person in the company. We seemed to get on really well, and he told me I was doing an "awesome" job. However, at my 3 month probation review, my manager (someone else) told me that I would be kept on probation for a further 3 months asm although my boss was happy, there were some issues between me and a couple of the people in the office. There were, but they blew over pretty quickly. My 6 month probation is up now. However, this manager said that they were not sure if they were keeping me on, as my partner was "on the fence" as to whether to keep me or not, as he had been 3 months ago. I was shocked at this, as I thought I was doing really well, and he certainly hadn't given me any reason to think otherwise. Certainly nothing like this was mentioned at my 3 month review.

So, my boss is coming in on Friday to "talk about it". The vibe I get is that he doesn't want to keep me on. He told me that if my boss did not want me, they would get rid of me. I do not want "sacked" or even worse "let go" on my CV. There are very few jobs here and I am scared I will not get another and I have a family to support.

So, should I just pre-empt it by leaving of my own accord? Like, now? Just handing my laptop and Blackberry to IT and leaving? Would that be unreasonable, in the circumstances?

Thanks.

What a carry on. Might be interesting to hear what the HR woman has to say. Maybe keep quiet though incase she tries to get you to retrqct your resignation.

Good luck and sorry for what you have been through.

some good advice here.

How are you doing Gemma ? Don't vanish, you're getting good support here to help with processing this.

You should not quit because usually relocation expenses etc are only paid if the company lets you go, not if you hand in your resignation first.

If you do go then make sure you raid the stationary cupboard ,tea fund and block the bosses toilet with well you get the drift I am sure. Thing is though joking apart , I don't get why you haven't spoken to this man before now and cleared the air and if he is going to get rid of you then resign . Dunno where that will get you with jsa or benefits in general my dear. To be honest sometimes there are more important things than money and you sound really stressed out and upset. I think you should go to the gp and sign off sick. You don't sound well at all my dear. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Shit I missed that they had sacked you darl thats awful you poor thing. Pick yourself up now and dust yourself off and make the most of your time at home . To be honest you really sound like you need a break and perhaps this is just what you needed to happen I know it may not seem like that at the moment. Am thinking of you my dear good luck x

Gemma I have read your previous posts and I think you have severe PND and anxiety, you are so vulnerable at the moment and I don't think you should have been at work since your child was a few days old. You sound so low I think some time away from the workplace will help you .
