To shriek in horror at FB friend request and ask, WTF have I just let myself in for?

Well wouldn't you just shit if you clicked on a 'new friend request' and found that it was from someone who you don't know but who you know a lot about, and you like none of it.

I have agreed to participate in an event, and this other person is presumably going to participate as well. I think this other person is a nutjob and I'm going right off the idea of the event. AIBU?

so don't go? job done

Nagoo · 21/08/2013 01:08

ERM, it rather depends on the event eh? :o

Ignore the FB request and do what you were going to do anyway? you are assuming a lot from a request for an add...

Cluffyflump · 21/08/2013 01:10

Is it Katie Hopkins?

Nagoo · 21/08/2013 01:10

Don't waste the opportunity to have a good mooch round their profile... Doesn't it open up if they request you?

Monty27 · 21/08/2013 01:10

Just ignore it. Job done.

StephenFrySaidSo · 21/08/2013 01:10

is the event 'dating in the dark'? Grin if so i'd stay clear tbh Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 21/08/2013 01:11

Nope, totally reasonable.
Block/refuse friend request.
Don't go to event.

missingmumxox · 21/08/2013 01:12

my thoughts entirely Nagoo if you are so het up about yourself and the person either go or don't, no dilemma

Waffling · 21/08/2013 01:12

I assume you'd do what most people do, and just ignore the request?

monty 27 baggsy no repeats :0)

SolidGoldBrass · 21/08/2013 01:23

Not Katie Hopkins (isn't she the one who cacks on about common-sounding names for babies) but perhaps similar level of 'Eww!'. Event is professional, not social.
But I like the idea of having a sniff round Ms Eww!'s profile bwahahah.

OP posts:
SolidGoldBrass · 21/08/2013 01:34

Even more entertainment value: someone who is a dedicated enemy of the Eww person has now started messaging me on FB. NUTTAHS! I think I'd better pack body armour, garlic and zombie repellent...

Solid you love the idea of a bit of drama Grin

Sounds fascinating, I'm intrigued!

missingmumxox · 21/08/2013 02:00

missingmumxox · 21/08/2013 02:01

just bet you are too young to remember test card :)

MsJupiterJones · 21/08/2013 02:19

David Cameron?

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 21/08/2013 02:24

Peter Andre?

MrsLouisTheroux · 21/08/2013 09:03

You don't know the person, have heard a lot about them so consequently don't like them?
Are you 12?

magimedi · 21/08/2013 09:04

Are they asking you to decorate a wedding venue with Sylvanian families? Grin

pollywollydoodle · 21/08/2013 09:11

just ignore or say that you only fb with close friends and family

Latara · 21/08/2013 09:48

Ignore, because sometimes making friends with the wrong person even on FB can open up a whole lot of problems (I have experience of this ;) ).

gamerchick · 21/08/2013 09:51

Just leave it pending for now. When you reject it's pretty obvious. Or accept and stick her on limited profile.

Bertrude · 21/08/2013 09:54

Accept and put her on 'limited profile' so you can nosey and they can't?
