To think DP is wrong?

Myliferocks · 18/08/2013 13:02

To me tomorrow is the start of this week and the bank holiday Monday is next week. The week we have just had is last week.

DP thinks that tomorrow is next week and the bank holiday Monday is the week after next week. The week we have just had is this week.

AIBU to think I am right?

I thought i would throw it open to the MN jury!

Sunday is the first day of the week.

StyleManual · 18/08/2013 13:07

For me tomorrow is next week and bank holiday Monday is the week after next. This week is the week we're in now, so in my mind that's Mon-Sun.

waddlecakes · 18/08/2013 13:08

DP is right.

PipkinsPal · 18/08/2013 13:11

Not that I'm religious but the Bible says that God toiled to create the heavens etc and rested on Sunday. In my mind Monday is the first day of the working week. So tomorrow is the beginning of the week, Sunday the end of the week and Bank Holiday Monday next week.

Whitershadeofpale · 18/08/2013 13:12

I think your right and DP is wrong. Bank holiday is next week.

IThinkOfHappyWhenIThinkOfYou · 18/08/2013 13:13

God rested on Saturday. Sunday is the day of the resurrection. The week starts on Monday regardless, it's when you go to work after the weekend.

Greythorne · 18/08/2013 13:18

Today is the first day of this week.

Next Subday is the first day of next week.

TobyLerone · 18/08/2013 13:19

Monday is the first day of the week. So until tomorrow, tomorrow and the week following it are 'next week'. When it's tomorrow, it'll be 'this week'.

Your DP is right.

valiumredhead · 18/08/2013 13:23

If you treat Sunday as first day of the week then bh is next week.

If you treat Monday as first day of the week then it is still next week.Grin

rockybalboa · 18/08/2013 13:25

I treat Monday as the first day of the week so today is this week, tomorrow is next week and the bank hol is the week after next.

BrokenSunglasses · 18/08/2013 13:28

This week is today, and the week we just had.

This week is Monday to Sunday. Next week is the week coming up next.

Bank holiday monday is the week after next week, because it's still Sunday. It will be next week tomorrow.

pumpkinsweetie · 18/08/2013 13:30

Tomorrow is a new week "next week" Today is "this week" it hasn't finished yet.
Bank Holiday monday is the "week after next" as we haven't reached monday yet.

Sondosia · 18/08/2013 14:12

Agree with your DP. I consider Monday as the start of the week, because Sunday is part of weekEND.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 18/08/2013 14:49

DP is correct. Today...Sunday is the last day of the week...talking of tomorrow is next week...then bank holiday is the week after next or as my Mum says "Monday week!"

Montybojangles · 18/08/2013 14:51

You say tomorrow is the start of this week, so that means you are still in the week before. What are you calling today? Are you presently in last week?

No, so your DP is correct.

Today is this week. Tomorrow is next week, and the BH is the week after next. When you get to tomorrow, then it will be this week and next week, but for today it isn't.

justmakingdo · 18/08/2013 14:52

Start of week is Monday
Sunday is part of the weekend!

Today is part of this week, tomorrow is next week and BH Monday is week after next

LST · 18/08/2013 14:56

Monday is the start of the week.. I thought that being as Sunday is at the weekEND it gave it away a bit Grin

primallass · 18/08/2013 14:58

Why would Sunday be the first day of the week? It is always down as day 7 in a calendar and is part of the weekEND.

TidyDancer · 18/08/2013 14:58

DP is correct. Sorry!

primallass · 18/08/2013 14:59

Cross posts LST!

Bowlersarm · 18/08/2013 15:00

Weeks for me start on a Monday. Therefore I would say your DP is right.

Bank Holiday Monday is the week after next.

Thumbwitch · 18/08/2013 15:01

I'm with you - tomorrow is the start of this week coming, and next week would be a week tomorrow. Anything behind today is last week.

Fairylea · 18/08/2013 15:02

Dp is right.

Sunday is the weekend. End.

Week begins on Monday.

Thumbwitch · 18/08/2013 15:03

If I was having a conversation with DH, and we were talking today about "this Tuesday", we would both know that it was this Tuesday coming, i.e. in 2 days time. The last Tuesday that happened is "last Tuesday" and "next Tuesday" would be in a week and 2 days time.

lastnightiwenttomanderleyagain · 18/08/2013 15:03

I tend to use Sunday as the divider. So, today, the bank holiday is next week but if you asked me yesterday it would have been the week after next!!!

This has really got me thinking though and it appears that random online dictionary agrees with the above

dictionary.reference.com/browse/week

*disclaimer: fairly certain you could find equal definition for any argument!
