DS says I am being unreasonable, he is 11 and has a dx of aspergers.
This morning he presented me with a letter (he hates writing so i was quite chuffed by this!)

Please can we stop cereal for breakfast as i think it is NOT suitable for human consumption (or for that matter for animal comsumption). Any deal will do.
Love ds
PS it is also very boring having the same thing everyday
NOW PLEASE PUT THIS DOWN AND THINK!

Thing is we DO have cereal everyday (quick, easy, healthy?) but my brain knows not of alternatives.... His alternative today is to say i wont eat at all until lunchtime so he has had a glass of water and disappeared upstairs.

AIBU to say actually cereal is fine and stop moaning?
What do you have for breakfast? (i can honestly say i have had cereal almost everyday if my life so im a bit at a loss!)

(please be nice ive never started an aibu before!)

Would he eat something like Granola with yogurt, I make my own as I dont like raisins

Recipe here.

Makes approximately 450g (50g per serving per person)

183 calories per serving

185 calories per serving with optional wheatgerm

200g jumbo porridge oats

30g mixed seeds of your choice

30g chopped nuts of your choice

1 tablespoon wheatgerm (optional)

1 tablespoon sunflower oil

¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract

100g of runny honey

60g dried fruit of your choice

Preheat the oven 150 degrees Celsius/130 degrees fan assisted

Stir together the oats, seeds, nuts, wheatgerm (if using) in a large bowl

Mix the oil, vanilla and honey together in a jug

Pour the honey mix over the dry ingredients and mix well so all the dry ingredients are coated

Spread the mixture over a large non-stick baking tray

Bake for 10-15 minutes and remove from oven

Leave to cool completely before storing

This granola lasts up to a month in an airtight container

my microwave is on the wall - as I have limited worktop space Grin you can get brakets to put microwaves on just as you can get brackets for tv's on the wall

"I plate up an extra portion of dinner, every night and have that for my breakfast....My favourite breakfast is on Mondays, when I (usually) get roast."

Extraordinary and impressive. Way to go. Roast dinner for breakfast. That is banging.

er ask him what he wants instead then!

I haven't eaten cereal in about 10 years so I'm with your DS on this one Smile

If I'm in the office I will have vegan yoghurt with chopped up apple, banana and raw almonds.

If I'm on the go I will have a protein shake blended with almond milk and a banana

But cereal is crap in a box!! There are a few exceptions to this - porridge, oatabix, sugar free rice crispies etc

What about simple cooked breakfasts. Egg and wholemeal soldiers, scrambled egg with smoked salmon or grilled tomatoes etc. Or for variety beans in toast. Fruit salad, grapefruit, sugar free yogurt.

If you are eating wheat for lunch/tea/snacks best to have a non wheat breakfast.

That soaking porridge tip is going to change my life MelanieCheeks Grin

Also nut butters and cheese.

Another breakfast I love is Greek yogurt, thawed raspberries (from freezer) and some musli type stuff (flax, nuts etc) thrown in. All topped with a bit of grated dark chocolate.

Your best balance is protein with veg.
