They wonder why people are so against them setting up camp where ever they please.

They arrived last Wednesday on a football field with a park and caused a whole load of trouble, for example, going to the petrol station handing over euros, being told they won't accept euros as payment, they simple got in their vans and drove of.

Made a visit to our local Sainsburys got caught shoplifting, were locked in until police were called.

Local children playing on park got beaten up with sticks by the traveller children.

And to top it all of 3 vans pulling up outside a local pub, very busy, dropping their trousers and all three disgusting men casually took a shit one by one on the pub doorstep. Got in there vans and drove of.

Then left the football field and park in an absolute mess. Rubbish everywhere.

Each incident police were called but nothing has been done.

So AIBU to wonder why travellers think this behavior is acceptable? and why can't anything be done to stop it?

iv heard about 2% of experiences from day to day contact with travellers that do travel and camp illegally that have been positive.

not talking about settled travellers.

my opinion will not change until I come across a traveller that isn't threatening or leaves a shit tip behind them - sorry but all my experiences have been highly negative

Only one of my jobs has been for the benefit of any of the travellers I have worked with. Many of my previous jobs have been not for the service user benefit yet I'm more than comfortable with saying that most of the travellers I have come across have been decent law abiding people.

The only exception to this is when I worked in youth justice then every child I worked with was not law abiding but most of the parents were shocked by there child's behaviour and actively wanting to work with us to stop it and that goes for travellers and none travellers.

Just incase someone pounces on this and uses it as evidence of traveller criminality despite working in a area with a very high traveller % they were a low % of our client group
