They wonder why people are so against them setting up camp where ever they please.

They arrived last Wednesday on a football field with a park and caused a whole load of trouble, for example, going to the petrol station handing over euros, being told they won't accept euros as payment, they simple got in their vans and drove of.

Made a visit to our local Sainsburys got caught shoplifting, were locked in until police were called.

Local children playing on park got beaten up with sticks by the traveller children.

And to top it all of 3 vans pulling up outside a local pub, very busy, dropping their trousers and all three disgusting men casually took a shit one by one on the pub doorstep. Got in there vans and drove of.

Then left the football field and park in an absolute mess. Rubbish everywhere.

Each incident police were called but nothing has been done.

So AIBU to wonder why travellers think this behavior is acceptable? and why can't anything be done to stop it?

Illiteracy costs money too which a transient lifestyle can cause.Studies have shown a high incidence of dv(which will cost)60% of English women have experienced it,80% of Irish according to one study...

Don't be ridiculous Mrs V,you just look silly.

Al0uise · 18/08/2013 18:39

I get irate about people who refuse to help themselves or by not fitting in causing the wider population extra expense.

That absolutely doesn't make me a racist though.

skylerwhite · 18/08/2013 18:40

If the aim is to improve relations between the settled and travelling communities, promote peaceful and respectful co-existence with due regard to the rights of all communities and ways of life, and even to address the deprivation and low social and educational outcomes within the travelling communities, then corralling travellers into insensitively-chosen permanent sites (ghettoes?) will not achieve that.

Thankfully children who need extra educational support receive it regardless of the financial records of their parents. What a disgusting attitude you have. And perhaps you should educate yourself about the life expectancy within the traveller community before moaning about them being a drain on the NHS.

Retro what's your point regarding illiteracy, domestic violence and English and Irish women?

Retropear · 18/08/2013 18:44

Nope not any more.

I got the help as I always fought for kids in my class,they needed it more and school diverted funds from elsewhere.It was rather annoying though as a lot of hard work was put into them,they'd make great progress and then leave.You'd then start all over again.

I'm sure we got the liaison help from County because of the number.This was when there was money to burn though.

Is the views expressed in your posts and the way they are expressed that make you come across as a bully, people disagree all the time but most do not do it they way you are

Coco I was a damn good teacher and very popular with traveller parents so I couldn't give a stuff what you think tbf.

People are allowed to have neg views re anybody they so choose.

I don't like the way women are treated in some sections of Muslim society either.

Mrs V you are writing your own version of posts whilst accusing me of being something I'm not- in a bulling tone.

IneedAsockamnesty · 18/08/2013 19:00

Retro can you answer my question?

Retropear · 18/08/2013 19:02

Oh and funds were diverted.We had x amount for assistant cover,I jumped up and down to get extra,other classes will have got less to compensate.

This was 10 years again I suspect funding is more organised now.

@KateSMumsnet

Morning everyone,

We're sorry some of you are upset at the way we've handled this thread. As we've said before, we will delete racist posts, or posts that make blanket negative assertions or generalisations about all Travellers. However, we will allow people to share their experience, both good and bad.

As much as we welcome vigorous debate, AIBU is not a fight club, and we will remove threads that turn into bunfights.

Just to remind you of our stance on this;

AIBU is not a fight club, and we will remove threads that turn into bunfights
