To think the Lelli Kelly buy a school shoe, get a make up kit is outrageous?

Pretty shocked to see primary school aged kids prancing about on telly with sparkly school shoe tat + hideous pink make up kits that come FREE with them. DD is 4.5 and about to start school in Sept. How long before I have to endure requests for silly products like this? And why do little girls need lip gloss kits? pour a stiff drink

My DD is 8 - i've asked her if she wants a pair and she said NO! and this is a girl who's favourite possession at the moment is a pair of purple shoe with a diamante strap

DD1 is going into primary 3. My mil bought her lelli Kelly school shoes for starting primary 1 and they were great. She wore them for three quarters of the year before her feet grew and they were still in great condition despite almost daily wear. I replaced them with Clark's shoes which barely lasted 2 months before they fell apart. She's had lelli Kelly school shoes ever since. The patent ones especially are very hard-wearing and they seem to support her feet well.
Agree that the advert is horrible though.

DD1 has a pair. She got them for her birthday, I think they're fabulous!

She's usually quite heavy on her feet and shoes seem to scuff easily on her, but these seem like really sturdy shoes. She's played out in them loads and they're still pristine. I love the fact that you can bung the canvas ones in the washing machine too.

I must admit that I wasn't that keen on the make up bracelet that came with the shoes but, on the other hand, I remember loving playing with my older sister's make up when I was small. She was ten years older than me and used to give me "makeovers" to look like Kylie Minogue. I haven't turned into a hussy yet, as far as I'm aware.

Two separate issues here.

Lelli Kelly shoes are fab. dd has some - her third pair now. each previous pair has lasted her until she grew out of them, and still looked good. they last and wear far better than Clarks/Start Rite, imo.

The designs and patterns aren't to my liking, but then, they aren't exactly marketed at me, are they? I would have loved them at age 5, just as my dd loves them now. Let's face it, if you can't wear sparkly jazzy shoes at age 5, when the hell can you wear them?!

THe whole make up/hair extensions/lip gloss thing I could live without. small children (well, everyone really, but small children especially) are beautiful enough without all that shit, and I really do think 5 is too young to even be thinking about it.

And what about that kid with the unusually massive knashers!? What the hell is going on there? Weird adverts and shoes vastly overpriced, why anyone would buy into this sort of branding is beyond me.
