Girls Shorts

During recent heat wave I went to buy shorts for my daughter. Tried major high street shops, my choice was really short, really short or really short shorts. Whether you think this length of shorts is suitable for young girls - I personally don't, there are almost no alternatives. Girls come in all shape & sizes & one style does not suit all. My daughter is quite slim - these shorts make her look skinny, larger girls look uncomfortable, however more than that I resent the total lack of choice. It is not pester power by my daughter, we actually had a choice of really short shorts or no shorts. One exception m&s do one pair mid-thigh one colour up to 8 yrs. Is it me, I just want a choice!

I hate the ridiculously short shorts too, but people have told me I'm being ridiculous. I'm hardly a Victorian mother, but it just doesn't feel right to me to have my 9 year old dd in hotpants. I feel the same about the super short mini skirts that seem to be the only option these days. What happened to a good knee length number!

I did find decent shorts at Gap...they do/ did some great knee length denim ones in lots of different colours so we're sorted for this summer thankfully

DD(8) got one pair from M&S (beige with a floral tie), a knee length denim pair from River Island for Kids and 2 pairs from Mountain Warehouse.

She lives in H&M £2.99 dresses and leggings for playing!
