Oh my!

You don't have to like him.

I used to think he was funny

I thought the comments about Harvey and other children were vile and changed my opinion of him as a comedian.

However he has steadfastly campaigned about Guantanamo and its prisoners, donated to Domestic violence charities and has refused to do interviews about this "fast" because he wants is to remain about Shaker and not become about himself.

To disparage someone for fasting for a week to raise awareness for something they feel strongly about is poor IMO.

And the comments about him doing it for attention, probably only doing it part time, it being a diet etc are uneducated comments.

GobbySadcase · 21/07/2013 10:13

He can fuck off.
He's shown kids like mine no respect and encourages hate acts towards us. I don't care what he thinks he was trying to do the end result was more disablist hate.

Attention seeking wanker.

themaltesefalcon · 21/07/2013 10:17

How can you wish someone dead because they are offensive? And how come this is a thread filled with outrage against FB and lots of "vile cunt" etc, instead of a thread about the appalling situation in Guantanamo Bay?

Exactly.

Obama is the one killing children.

Frankie Boyle tells vile jokes about them.

Yes the wrath is reserved only for Frankie Boyle.

limitedperiodonly · 21/07/2013 10:17

I know I don't have to like him.

He has chosen to do something about a cause in which he believes. Good for him but I don't find that particularly impressive.

And I find unpleasant personal comments about him not uneducated but an homage to his comic style. I'm sure the ugly cunt would approve but I don't give a fuck if he doesn't.

flippinada · 21/07/2013 10:38

I'm a bit surprised at all the FB defenders being horrified at people making jokes about his hunger strike.

Offensive, nasty humour is what he's made a very good living from. I would have thought you liked that sort of thing?

Eyesunderarock · 21/07/2013 10:38

'Obama is the one killing children.'

No he isn't. American foreign policy is driving their actions abroad, and as America is not a dictatorship, it is not within the power of one man to set the policy or to cancel it.

Trigglesx · 21/07/2013 10:50

His disablist/sexist/racist act is a charicature of those who actually harbour those beliefs.

This, and the "layers" comments make me laugh. Seriously, he is not Shrek, OR an onion. He doesn't have "layers" that excuse his behaviour. He is a nasty vile excuse for a man.

I don't care whether or not he fasts. I just want him to Shut. Up.

kissmyheathenass · 21/07/2013 10:57

FB if vile but ffs nothing compared to the vile cunt that is Obama. save your vitriol for him not some 2nd rate comic.

mayorquimby · 21/07/2013 11:10

Not a big fan of his but dislike him.
Impressive enough and anything which highlights Guantanamo is a good thing in my book.
Added bonus of hopefully getting people discussing the hypocritical twat Obama (now I know fb won't have this effect but the wider campaign might) is also a good thing.

mayorquimby · 21/07/2013 11:12
  • but don't dislike him
flippinada · 21/07/2013 11:42

I didn't realise you were only allowed yo dislike one person at a time?

flippinada · 21/07/2013 11:43

that should be to dislike, of course.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/07/2013 11:48

I went to a MN Glasgow Woolly Huggers meet up at the Tramway in Glasgow, and FB was there - at the Tramway, not at the MN meet up, I hasten to add.

I like a lot of his humour, especially the earlier stuff, but deplore the racist/disabling material, which is vile.

FannyFifer · 21/07/2013 12:11

Totally loving the idea of Frankie Boyle at the Glasgow wooly hugs meet up though, should invite him to the next one.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/07/2013 12:12

Lolol - maybe we will!

hazeyjane · 21/07/2013 16:08

Obama is the one killing children.

Frankie Boyle tells vile jokes about them.

Oh, ok then, next time I hear someone shouting 'retard' at someone with learning disabilities in the street, I'll just pat them on the head and say, 'oh well, at least you are not committing government sanctioned murder, you contraversial scamp you.'

I don't know about you, but my moral compass isn't quite so all or nothing.

Trigglesx · 21/07/2013 16:12

Exactly. I had to defriend someone on FB today due to them repeatedly using the word "retard" when talking about someone that had irritated them.

I know which problem is infinitely more prevalent, and it isn't what Obama is doing.

Branleuse · 21/07/2013 16:28

I saw that show where he did the katie price joke. The whole thing was shocking, but i did laugh.

Noone except his fans would have even known about it till the daily mail decided to go on about it. Bit like the brand and ross thing.
If you go and see FB, you know he's going to push the limits, and how shocking it is, is part of what makes it so funny. Its not like he really believes it.
I dont see why disabled people should be off limits for having jokes made about them. Bit patronising if they should be a special case, or taboo in humour.

Really Branleuse.

And yet there don't seem to be so many jokes around about 'pakis' and 'niggers' any more, but jokes insulting and dehumanising disabled people are fair game. Personally I don't agree with people using children with severe learning disabilities as the butt of jokes because I happen to have a child with sld.

And

a) he is not able to defend himself (so the whole, 'how patronising' surely disabled people can stand up for themselves, argument is rather lost on him, because he is 3 and can't speak) and

b) because jokes like this don't just affect my ds), they affect the whole of society. A room full of people laughing at jokes about how all people with Downs syndrome look the same (imagine if fb had said that about black people) legitamises ignorance, abuse and hatred of disabled people.

GobbySadcase · 21/07/2013 18:39

Made fun of? Having it said that a child will be a rapist because they have autism?

That's not 'making fun'.

SirChenjin · 21/07/2013 18:45

Did you admire Jimmy Savile for all his charity work BeerTricks?

Trigglesx · 21/07/2013 18:54

Noone except his fans would have even known about it till the daily mail decided to go on about it.

And that makes it okay? So as long as only a few knew what an utter knob he was, that's okay then. If he can't stand the scrutiny of being in the public eye, perhaps he should just Shut. Up.

I dont see why disabled people should be off limits for having jokes made about them. Bit patronising if they should be a special case, or taboo in humour.

You don't? Well, I guess that makes you no better than him. Hmm

limitedperiodonly · 21/07/2013 18:58

Noone except his fans would have even known about it till the daily mail decided to go on about it.

It's called bringing it to a wider audience. Sometimes it goes down well; sometimes not so much.

googlyeyes · 21/07/2013 18:59

Exactly Hazeyjane. There would not be one person on here defending the use of racist terms/ humour.

Why the fuck are the disabled the last minority group it is ok to mock and abuse? In a civilised society they would be the most protected group of all
