Those stringy bits on the sides make me shudder, and the texture when it goes all squishy in your mouth, and the little bits at either end 😮

Bananas are vile. I've never met anyone else who doesn't like them.

I had pears 'ripening' in the fruit bowl for six weeks. Four weeks past their BBD they went, in a bowl with ripe bananas. At the end of six weeks I gave up, and made pear crumble. Had to stew those little bastards for ages before they softened.

skippy84 · 18/07/2013 17:01

100% agree can't stand them. I wonder what dr Freud would make of us

jeanmiguelfangio · 18/07/2013 17:38

Bananas are wrong- end of. They smell funny and the texture is weird. DH hates them too- match made in banana hating heaven

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 18/07/2013 19:43

cant stand them! texture, smell, feel... it all makes me shudder

dh eats them (though not regularly thankfully) and when he does he does so in a different room to me. it did take him a while to actually believe me when i said how much i couldnt stand them

ginpig · 18/07/2013 20:16

Bananas are quite simply the work of the devil

TSSDNCOP · 18/07/2013 20:37

Reasons I hate them

The spring bits
The feel of the skin and how they can turn from green to brown and spongy in less time than it takes to say "banana"
The hard bit on the end
The way the ones in Sainsbo and only Sainsbo have a smelly brown discharge on them Hmm
The smell
The patches of gluey on an overripe one
Overripe ones
They are the only sodding fruit DS loves so I have to buy the yellow bastards

Pilgit · 18/07/2013 21:30

They are vile. Yanbu at all. My 7 month old adores them and it makes me want to vomit every time she eats one (as I get covered as well)

JassyRadlett · 18/07/2013 21:37

I am allergic to the fuckers. And DS adores them.

I'm with you 100%.

minouminou · 18/07/2013 21:44

I'll eat them in a cake, or in ice cream.
Otherwise, they can shit off. I have seen a friend make banana muffins with a very overripe nana that was fizzing. Fizzing........ L

DD will eat them happily.

LittleMissGerardButlerfan · 18/07/2013 21:50

They genuinely scare me, I was washing up earlier and some banana string was stuck to a bowl, It made me feel very squirmy and yucky!

My boys love them but my youngest has to peel the stringy bits off, I used to have to do it for him and I did it but it wasn't easy!

I'm glad I've found fellow bananaphobes!

bananas are the fruit of the devil and I'm extremely pleased that DD is showing no signs of loving them, thank God. The smell, the texture, the squidgy brown bits - vom. I'm not a fruit fan in general, but bananas are truly foul. And when people eat them on public transport . . . !!!!! Hung, drawn and quartered too good for 'em.
