to think FIL is weird for wanting this pic of me?

FIL is odd generally. But he was at a party at my parents house for my DD's bday and saw a pic of me they have up from ten years ago when I was younger/prettier/thinner, before I had met dh. HFIL said he'd like a copy of the pic presumably to put up with all the other family pics at their house. I laughed and said that's from before you met me FIL hahahaha as in no way, weirdo but is this an odd reaction from me? Sorry if I am not attractive enough now, or pics of me with your son and grandkids not enough, I think the only people who should be able to have pic of me on their mantelpiece from when I was younger are my own parents and grandparents and perhaps if they really want to when grown up, my kids. I mean I know there is no harm to it, but I still think it is weird.

I know a few people who put 'best' pictures of people on their fridges, rather than ones from a particular occasion or year. It doesn't seem that odd.

I was expecting it to be a really raunchy picture or something for a minute!

just to clarify the unlimited fruit - they don't actually EAT that much because, as this thread kind of illustrates, they aren't hungry and they want shite to nibble on - given the choice between nowt and an apple mine tend to wonder off grumbling about what a crap mother I am

I trying to think how I'd feel if my FIL said that....yeah I'd think it was weird. And I love my FIL and have no feelings of weirdness or underlying suspicions about him.

I'm not sure why this made me chuckle so much. What a weirdo just get the picture printed on loads of things like a cushion, a bag, a mouse mat and then a giant one for above his fire

maybe he wants his friends/visitors to say "ooh, what a beauty your son's with" etc? not defending him but seems plausible.

Maybe he thinks of you as as much family as his son and wants a nice pic of before they knew you. It doesn'thave to be weird.

Well at risk of outing myself...

Three things. Sorry don't mean to drip feed.

1. he refuses to have own pic taken leading to big row when he wouldn't let me take pic of him with my son when he was teeny even though I have pics of him with my daughter.

2. I hate it when they say they consider me a daughter. (Dh is their only child). I know they are being nice but I have parents thanks

3. recently at their house he turned on tv which is a fancy pants connected to the computer thing showing past programmes watched and up came loads of porn. All vanilla stuff thank god. And only dh saw and he pretended he didn't. Mil didn't see (though for all I know it's her porn too) and me and the kids were playing with a toy and looking the other way thankfully. Yuk. Who wants I think of fil and porn even though perfectly healthy no kids or animals etc etc

I'd find it very weird.

I have my own parents and when MIL said I was the daughter she never had ( DH is an only child) my heart melted and i felt accepted into the family ( this was premarriage)

I'm with Feminine I just don't understand he cares about you and wanted a nice photo of you. I don't like having my photo taken doesn't make me a bad person nor would wanting a photo of my children in law before I met them it would just mean I cared enough to want them to feel part of my family which they would become by marrying one of my children. Nothing sinister.

I have to say I actually think this thread is quite sad.

If he wants a photo of the OP, she should give him a recent one and see if he's still as keen.

Peach I don't think asking for a flattering photo of your DIL means you want them to be part of the family. How you treat them determines that.

How sad that them welcoming you into their family makes you feel annoyed.

I think its odd that he wants an old "nice pic" of you rather than one that shows you now if that makes sense? Why that particular picture when you presumably have many many others and with your children too. Weird weird weird.
