Bought sani-pads and panty liners (yuk to their name!) only to discover there has been some kind of Magic Tree collaboration that I was not aware of.

Why on earth would I want my foof to smell like I'd given it the once over with the Shake and Vac?

After a post recommending them I have bought Lillets night time towels to try. I also nearly bought a whole load of their girls/teens products as I have a daughter about to be 10 but thought I would wait a bit.

Do the scented ones have different coloured boxes/packets? I tend to be always or bodyform depending on which is on offer but don't want to be spending ages reading to see if they are going to pong.

I find the wings bit s are useful as I used to have leakage at the side issues.

Sorry for minor hijack, but someone up thread mention always infinity? Oooh that advert rattles my cage. The bit at the end " absorbs twice as much as you need". Oh really? So the fact that when on a period (not had one for years but we'll ignore that for now!!) I can flood out of a maxi tampon and a maxi pad in about 2 hours, now with always infinity I can just use that for 4 hours instead? Yeah right!

Asda own brand do unscented (think they do scented as well though) and I think the colour of stripe behind the writing changes but not the box colour if that helps at all MissStrawberry

or just pick up the box in the supermarket and sniff it always a good way to look like a sanporo sniffing loon.

I always used Always but found the scent sickening so have switched to Lilets towels which are very good. I think I will try Boots own too. Dd1 uses the lilets silk applicator (yes they make them) tampons and has found them excellent if there's anybody out there with teens wanting to try an applicator tampon.

ThisReally - was in New Zealand last year, and there were indeed interesting random facts on the strips you remove to reveal the glue.

I think they have got together with canesten for a money making ploy.

Hormonal mad woman isn't fully paying attention and picks up highly scented always as she has raging pmt and young children in a supermarket (never a good mix) with 4 hours woman is being driven mad by severe itching caused by highly scented always, hormonal itchy mad woman then has to purchase canesten at £10 a go.

So glad I'm not the only one who's becoming increasingly annoyed at trying to find unscented pads - I swear the scented ones are funded by Canesten - thrush guaranteed if you wear scenties!

I now use Natracare. www.natracare.com. I buy mine in a health food shop that does a wide variety of beauty and health care products.

I hated the revolting scented sanpro available in the supermarket and pharmacists. Didn't realise about own brand ones at the time.

Swapped to this brand after a terrible time with thrush and GroupB Strep infection on GPs recommendation of using a different brand.

Thought a link might give those some more info if they needed another option.

Another brand to try is Nature Woman (Ocado have them) which say they use natural/renewable material (no plastic, no chlorine). And definitely no scent!

Always are the only pads I really feel 'safe' from leakage in. I actually don't mind the new smelly ones but I've had thrush/general itching more since they've changed and now I don't know what to use. Bodyform don't do the job well enough for me. It's a problem

What I want to know is this:

How has this happened? Who has allowed it to happen? and WHY?

Surely Always research arm (and the other companies who do scented products) is not run by a group of squeamish and ignorant men? (I don't think I know any men who want fannies to smell like car air fresheners anyway, but you never can tell.)

Surely if they had surveys done, the results would be overwhelmingly similar to this thread? For medical reasons if nothing else.

Is it just economically better to cut out a stage of processing and cover up the unpleasant unprocessed smell of the fibre with cheap perfume and try to sell it to us as an advance in fanny freshness? (Wild speculation there. I know nothing of how these things are processed.)

I also want to know:

How do the figures break down for Always? Have they seen an increase or a decrease in sales?

Is it an elaborate long game, where we all stop buying Always, then they 'respond to customer feedback' and take the noxious pong out of their pads? Sort of like NuCoke. I cannot see why or how they would do this. Especially as they were getting quite plasticky anyway, and now I've found two brands which are just as good/same price/no pong/no plasticky-fanny feeling - so I won't go back.

Has there been any proper feedback from them at all on this issue?

Does anyone work for their parent company who can shed any light? I can't believe I'm so invested in this that I'm even asking. But it just seems like such a monumental fuck-up, I'm fascinated to know how it happened.

I'm pretty sure most tampax are not scented... I know you can get scented Tampax Pearl, but the cardboard and tampax compak are still unscented.

Haven't used Always in a while, other than their Dailies liners which I DID think smelled rather floral, even though they weren't the scented version! Dread to think what the scented ones are like!
I usually buy the pink Bodyform or the Always value packs which can be found for £1 in one or other of the shops, and are still definitely unscented.

Thank you for this thread. It's me read the pack of Always I opened last period more closely, and now I realise why I was itchy. I thought maybe it was the heat or something. I had enough to deal with from getting dizzy and nauseous from having excessively heavy bleeding, so wasn't paying too close attention, and am also very hayfevery this year, so can't smell much either, so hadn't actually noticed (I am more sensitive to smell at other times of the month, but I don't need pads at that time.)

I take a fair bit of care in making sure I don't buy scented washing powders, and I never use artificial air fresheners, having been brought up in a household where a blast of fresh air was expected to cure all ills. I never expected to have to read sanpro packets so closely, other than check its absorbency. I just can't understand why anyone ever thought that this would be a good thing or healthy or any sort of improvement.

I've never been able to use the scented San pro, not that I wanted to, but I find the old card or plastic applicator tampax are still un scented.
After that I use own brand boots or tesco. They're fine, if they don't have the dry weave (plastic) lining. Delicate bits here!

I use a moon cup, but now a boots or tesco liner for extra protection, and I use a super tampax tampon at night, if I'm worried about having a stuck pig look to the bed linens!

There may well be women working in the market research departments of p and g / always, but they still are patronising woman hating corporate hating cockwads!

And the perfume YSL Paris makes me gag in old lady fustiness, and pretty much anything musky for Coty.
