To wonder why all sanitary towels now smell like Glade plug-ins???

Bought sani-pads and panty liners (yuk to their name!) only to discover there has been some kind of Magic Tree collaboration that I was not aware of.

Why on earth would I want my foof to smell like I'd given it the once over with the Shake and Vac?

Very Confused

(PS: I'm not touting for advice about mooncups - already own one Wink)

Can't stand the fragranced pads, they also make me itch, not to mention the smell wafting out.

Thank God I use a mooncup and washable san pro now. I'm never going back. I agree with others, sales will plummet.

Freshballs Grin!
I bought some Always in the pound shop and didn't realise they had perfume in them.
I really want to know who came up with that idea, and why the hell they thought that particular fragrance would be good.
Do they not do tests with actual blood and realise the combo is atrocious?!
And don't get me started on the itch....

This is why I bought a mooncup.

Pregnant just now though so will suss out unscented pads for post pregnancy. Thanks!

Can you use a moon cup if you have a coil in? Would it pull out the coil?

Report
DontstepontheMomeRaths · 10/07/2013 22:02

I have a coil and use a mooncup. Never thought for a moment about pulling it out. I think you'd have to go some and drag the strings out with it. My strings aren't that low tbh.

You can use a mooncup with a coil - it says on their site.

Have not read whole thread but I recommend "cottons" towels (can buy from Boots) and also lillets have started doing towels now too. Quite a lot of unnecessary packaging but no scents!

Another one who didn't realise that they'd scented the fuckinn sanpro, how very dare they, cant smell anything due to hayfever, but itched like buggery. Then started to feel a bit cystitisy. Dug out some old accidentally bought with wings, instant releif. WTAF.
Not happy at all.
Arsewipes.

Another recommendation for cottons towels from boots. Used to buy tampax pearl but haven't used tamping for a whole after a bad bout of thrush, plus then pregnant and post-baby - dismayed to hear they now have scent in! Horrible, horrible, horrible :(

*tampons. Bloody autocorrect.

Is this scent business new? As in has it happened over the last 9 months while I've been pregnant and not using sanpro?

I'm frightened of using them for my first period after giving birth now! Yikes!

I discovered Cottons when looking for scent-free towels. They feel a lot nicer than always too.

Scented tampons?! What???? How / who would be able to smell them?! I also hate scented pads, in fact pads altogether - all plasticky and sticky. Despite thinking it was yuk, last month I bought a mooncup and it was fantastic, and I've just bought some lovely soft organic cotton washable pads to try next month. They are so lovely and soft I really hope they work!

Yes, the Always towels stink now, my whole bedroom stank of them, and had to wash my jeans every day when wearing them. I have now changed to Always Silk.

A few days ago I went into my boss's office and wondered what the strong smell was. I then realised it was the smell of Always towels! I felt so embarrassed for her.

I hate those scented pads, they stink like a drying out glade gel crap and make my fanjo itch to buggery.

Having a period does not make you stink, however claimed it does deserves a fucking slap.

I've been out of the market for a while after pregnancy and bfing and I am Shock at all the one way trip to the yoghurt aisle perfumed products. Esp tampons - they don't smell anyway. Hmm

MrsJ, the Bodyform ones made me laugh, not so much for the heart to tell you where the front is, but the arse shape to tell you which end goes at the back.

allaflutter · 11/07/2013 00:31

yes, no better way to advertise to all that you have period, than to wear these!
thank God, Bodyform is doing normal ones. Changing liners is what keeps you fresh, not the sickly mix of two bad smells .

oh good, not just me then - I too returned after a break for pregnancy and bf'ing to find everything scented, and promptly got thrush for the first time in my life. To top it off, the smell's gross! AND it is so strong it's like a HELLO, I'M HAVING MY PERIOD to everyone around you.

I wonder if people are changing pads less frequently since they made them super absorbent, and that is why the manufacturers think they need to be scented. Horrible.

Oh my god this explains why I was so itchy yesterday! Had to run out in a panic to grab some as I was wearing a white skirt and nobody had warned me that having the coil out could lead to heavy bleeding Angry

I just grabbed the first box of always (having used them for decades and never having a problem).

Have now just had a proper look at the box and have seen it has "pearls" helping you to keep "fresh".

Argh - its a big box too! What a waste!

No, no, no, you are not the slightest bit unreasonable. There I was wondering if it was just me and that all the other women in the world liked them.

I use a cup anyway but need a pad too. I switched to unscented brands. Seriously thinking about getting over my horror of cloth - what do you carry them round in? Presumably you rinse them out, squeeze dry and put in plastic bag, or what?

"Argh - its a big box too! What a waste!"

I'm gradually using up my accidentally-purchased scented monstrosities by using them on heavy flow days only. I just have to ignore the awful pong. But frequent change means the irritation doesn't seem to take hold.

"Is this scent business new? As in has it happened over the last 9 months while I've been pregnant and not using sanpro?"

Yes, it came out in the second half of last year.

Check really, really carefully for post-delivery sanpro (and the first few months after that, especially if you need stitches). You really don't want scented near a post-partum perineum.

Apparently in Australia they have random facts on the sanitary pads!

That's my only contribution and I would like to know if that's true please?

I have been using washables since finding them on washable nappy sites when ds1 was a baby.
If I need to be a bit more confident I use bodyform or the cheapest always.

Would never ever deliberately buy scented items for wearing in my pants. The super-absorbency of always makes my bit stick to them anyway as they seem to try and absorb even the natural moisture in my skin! Before I had my piles done the plastic pads used to aggravate my bum too so I stopped using them and will never go back.

Always and other super-slim pads contain crystals of chemicals that give the superabsorbency, and the thought of wearing basically plastic-covered chemicals next to my sensitive bits for several days every month put me off them for ever. For nightime pads now I just use the old inners from 2 part cloth nappies, and daytime a nice cottony pad if not a washable.

Who on earth are the focus groups for Always? On here no one seems to like those stupid wings (If I buy pads withthem on by accident I rip them off) or the scenting!
