To buy my partner socks?

We have been together 11 years and have a five month old DS.

Since starting maternity leave I have taken over all the family finances, house stuff (decorating etc) and shopping. We have our own money for clothes and discretionary spending.

I just bought him socks because I saw them in the sale. I wouldn't object to being bought socks myself, I think it's thoughtful, it's not a gift or anything.

He says he doesn't want me to think of socks when I think of him. Socks are what nans buy you at Christmas, apparently.

So AIBU or is he?

Awww Mrsjay if he likes a Disney t shirt let him wear it, he's not hurting anyone.

I don't really buy DH clothes apart from underwear cos I never get it right, the transformers tshirt dd1 is currently wearing was a previous attempt at a gift..

DH buys me a lot of clothes, usually perfectly, oh shit, I'm the eeyore fleece buyer of the family aren't I Blush

So lose the Hmmface and leave him to it.this is about imposing taste upon dp
So Not a lack of ability to purchase items
Exerting your preferences and control over what your p buys

mrsjay · 09/07/2013 21:51

yes I let him wear them he is happy yes lovey you are THAT ONE Grin

gillywillywoo · 09/07/2013 21:54

DH and I have been married for less than a year.. Together for 4 years.

If there were nice socks in the sale I would pick them up for him... And he would appreciate it!
I buy him socks for Christmas pretty much every year (along with a load of other things that he wants/needs as well!)

What's the problem!!??

:o

Scottish STBX is a very good dresser, I never had any involvement with his clothes apart from the odd TShirt I thought he would like and socks/pants/work trousers he asked me to pick up for him when I was shopping. It didnt mean anything more than if he said "could you grab me some deodorant when you are shopping please?".

LQ Am I right in saying that you picked advised on the mens suits for your wedding, given the lack of paisley, "ironic" kipper ties and Disney characters?!

ComtessedeFrouFrou · 09/07/2013 22:55

This is ridiculous. My DH had been commenting about how yet another pair of his socks had holes in them at the toes. I picked up some more at the supermarket. Can you know what he said to me?

"Let's talk about SOCKS, baby!" Grin

And then he said thank you, because he's an adult who's grateful that I remembered to get some socks for him (when he would only have got around to it weeks later), not a child who's ready to throw his socks toys out of the pram over such a little thing.

ComtessedeFrouFrou · 09/07/2013 22:56

Bah! Can you know can you guess obviously. My command of the English language is really quite good, honest Hmm
