It was Kate Bush that inspired me to read the book (Wuthering Heights). After reading it, I loved her even more!

JoyceDivision · 01/07/2013 22:44

only today as I was driving my young friend (20) around LOndon (I am 51 on THursday) - Cloud Busting came on the radio and we both agreed that she was just ace - thanks to her mum (my best friend - she was a fan having found some old albums).....I had just taken her to the V and A Bowie expo ....sadly she was very sketchy on who he was - back on Kate - Man with the Child in His Eyes - Fab-u-lous!!!! Play your babies Bowie, =Beatles, Stones and Kate - its a gift ....oh and Bob Dylan and Joni....they will thank you!!! Oh and Elton - he is cooler than you think....

Cutitup · 01/07/2013 23:06

I love Kate Bush. I mean, with utter devotion. I had her posters on my wall between 11 and 21. I am a KB nerd. My daughter thinks I'm a freak for my re-playing of Hounds of Love at home all the time.

Events have recently conspired that I could meet KB in the flesh through friends who have kids at her son's school. But - do I want to? Yes, of course. But it might ruin things to see her in school mum mode when she is the grande poetess of the world. I love her too much to let it be ruined by meeting her at such a prosaic event.

Heartache. I wasn't joking about the devotion.

Heathcliffe! Its me, oh Cathy oh come home now

Cutitup · 01/07/2013 23:09

I would ask her: Did Sylvia Plath's poem "This is a picture of me" inspire you to write Under Ice?

bootsycollins · 01/07/2013 23:09

I love Kate Bush too!

bootsycollins · 01/07/2013 23:12

Wow is a fab tune

SacreBlue · 01/07/2013 23:35

Totally get the 'love the music and videos but would she be so fecking amazing in rl' hope she is, think she would be.

Hell does it matter when I love her work so far? Nope. Still think she is cool even if I am too old to be 'cool' and even if she isn't seen as such.

heathcliffe.......

YANBU at all, I have loved Kate since Wuthering Heights and have everything she has ever released.

More than anything I love the fact that she is a bit bonkers and eccentric. Her music just gets to me, it speaks to my soul (wow, that's a bit deep) and is the only stuff which can raise a tear.

On Aerial is an amazing track called A Coral Room with the fab lyric " my mother, and her little brown jug, it held her milk and now it holds our memories". Oh my God that makes me well up every time I hear it.

JakeBullet · 02/07/2013 06:38

Running up that Hill.....one if my favourites.

SacreBlue · 02/07/2013 10:17

She's fab! dh fancies her like mad too!

squoosh · 02/07/2013 11:59

I adore Kate, especially This Woman's Work.

Love how reclusive she is too. Take note other 'Oh I'm so hounded by the paparazzi' type celebs.

greenhill · 02/07/2013 11:59

I dreamt about her last night. She was in a red ballet outfit and was very chatty.

clarinetV2 · 02/07/2013 12:17

YANBU. The merest mention of her name has me humming Wuthering Heights complete with arm movements if not quite the whole dance at my desk Go Kate!
