To think all of this hand holding bollocks is going a bit too far now

It used to be that when something bloody awful happened to someone, they'd ask for a bit of hand holding, but its getting ridiculous now.

All it takes is for someone to post summat like "I've burnt tea" and the first sodding responder says "ooh you must be so worried, I'm holding your hand". This is then followed by a million other "I'm holding your hand too" posts.

How many fucking hands does one person have?

Seriously. Sheesh. Knock it off.

I prefer to Biscuit [oldskool]

I have another, non-manky, foot available for holding or massage

Amrapaali · 30/06/2013 20:47

Oooh elfy you are a saviour. Both my feet are free. And they smell nice. ignore the fungus ridden big toe

Amrapaali · 30/06/2013 20:48

is good. Succint.

DeathByTray · 30/06/2013 20:55

I offered my foot at 18:01 and it was ignored!

nenevomito · 30/06/2013 20:58

Are you really upset Death?

Just in case, I feel the need to shout to the hills that I didn't lose half a toenail to fungus, but to a stubbing incident that I'm quite surprised didn't break a bone 3 months ago. It's growing back. Slowly.

To be honest the thought of anyone touching my feet is absolutely unbearable. If someone wanted to torture me, they'd just need to book me in for a pedicure.

kotinka I am very shallow Grin

Because I'm a pedantic little fucker, the phrase 'hand holding' over the internet makes me want to chew my own eyes out. I feel the same when someone types ((((Hugs)))). They're not hugs, they're brackets Blush

But now that I've got that off my chest, I think MN brings fantastic support to people in need. Some of it has brought a tear to my un-chewed eyes when I've read the support given to some people.

But having said that, I do understand what the OP is saying.

Some people expect 'Hand holding' every time their cat has a shit that isn't quite solid.

It does make a mockery of the support that can be found on MN.

mrsjay · 30/06/2013 21:13

are you ok babyheave do you need a hand to hold eh, Grin you know people can type what they like and I have never read a hand to hold cos i burnt the tea posts, I have seen tongue in cheek type replies though

HollaAtMeBaby · 01/07/2013 00:30

YANBU. There was a thread recently where the OP posted that her husband had left and she wanted HH, people flocked around, and as the thread unfolded it quickly turned out that the dh had in fact stormed out after a without even taking his phone. He was back within an hour Hmm

HollaAtMeBaby · 01/07/2013 00:30

"Sweaty pawed hand holding Care Bears"

That has made my day along Grin Grin Grin

WafflyVersatile · 01/07/2013 01:14

)))anti-hugs((( to the OP.

ZacharyQuack · 01/07/2013 01:20

I would really like a way of expressing inside a pair of wee pointy brackets.

Nave a gin and leave the hand holders to it.

Seriously I have been amazed by the support that MN offers, if you don't like it then don't read it. (same for Facebook).

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/07/2013 11:04

Even I wouldn't start a sledgehammer thread like this. I've held someone's 'hand' about half a dozen times in all the years I've been here. It's one of those that is better left unsaid than said. Baffled. Confused

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/07/2013 11:07

Just seen Worra's post about the not-quite-solid shit... now that would deserve a Marigolded 'hand hold'. Grin

Hold hands Worra? ^

Fenton · 01/07/2013 11:20

I agree with you about the over-use of hand holding.

But I am not 'on-board' with the foot holding idea. If anyone offers to hold my foot I WILL flounce, and we don't want that do we?

I am by the way very fussy about the administering of hugs too. And please no soft hugging or hair stroking either.

Fenton · 01/07/2013 11:23

And if anyone 's me they will end up wearing it.

And Cease and desist you sweaty pawed hand holding care bears! is the funniest thing I've read on here in weeks.
