Apparently it is frowned upon on MN.

Can't you decide for yourself? This is a post about the prom thread, why not join in there? Fake tan is better than skin cancer: FACT.

LastTangoInDevonshire · 27/06/2013 17:43

Do what you want.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 27/06/2013 17:44

I would love to, I just can't be arsed with it though.

bringmeroses · 27/06/2013 17:46

In what way...??

Is it BU to do something frowned upon?

Love that you are receiving replies to this :)

HoneyDragon · 27/06/2013 17:47

EVERYTHING is frowned upon on Mnet. If you're doing something that's not, than you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Arisbottle · 27/06/2013 17:48

I use fake tan, most things that I do are frowned upon by Mnet.

valiumredhead · 27/06/2013 17:48

This is a thread about a thread - thought that was frowned upon?

KirjavaTheCat · 27/06/2013 17:52

Embrace the pale, that's what I say!

Alisvolatpropiis · 27/06/2013 17:55

Not if you like it.

If you're putting it on because you feel you should then that would be unreasonable.

I think being bright orange is frowned upon by most, not just here. A bit of subtle fake tan can be nice, natural looking even.

tamora · 27/06/2013 17:58

I know.Fred about Fred. Sorry.
I was just depressed by the strength of disapproval over the use of fake tan. It's just cosmetic. How is it different in principle to wearing lipstick?

They were disapproving of a 16 year old girl feeling the need to slap it on, and a mother encouraging her by booking a spray tan.

You are (presumably) an adult although this thread doesn't exactly confirm that so do whatever the fuck you want.

PrincessWellington · 27/06/2013 19:30

Use it while eating Pombears and drinking vodka with Fruitshoot. Why live by other people's rules?

TimeofChange · 27/06/2013 19:39

I'm surprised that the fake tan look is still desirable.

Ten years ago 99% of actresses at award ceremonies had fake tan on.
These days there are many more 'pale and interesting' famous actresses, but I suppose we have the TOWIE look alikes.

Elquota · 27/06/2013 20:36

I don't see the appeal of fake tan. It's sad when people want to change the colour of their skin.

cheeseandbiscuitsplease · 27/06/2013 20:36

Loreal sublime bronze gel. ;)
Never streaks. Nice colour. No smell.

squoosh · 27/06/2013 20:51

I used fake tan for years, if you like it, use it!

For me it was so liberating to stop, it's quite labour intensive if it's a look you plan to keep up.

As TimeofChange says look at a red carpet line up these days and there are so many proudly pale celebrities. I do think if you're naturally pale it's better to work with that rather than spend your time lamenting the fact you don't have olive skin.

But don't worry that MN doesn't approve, it's your body, slather it on!

LimitedEditionLady · 27/06/2013 21:01

A tan looks nice,if people can actually tell its fake then it is not! Some girls seem to get addicted to it and it becomes obsessive.I dont wear it myself because I am quite a low maintenance kinda girl not really into much but eyeliner and mascara.my friend cannot stand not wearing it.she feels odd with her natural skin colour but i think she looks lovely!

squoosh · 27/06/2013 21:03

I sometimes wonder what someone who time travelled here from the 1940s would think of all the tangoed men and women there are these days. Bright orange skin has become so normalised but to fresh eyes I'd imagine it would look quite alarming.

HoneyStepMummy · 27/06/2013 21:41

I don't understand why some people are getting their knickers in a twist over fake tans. I'm very paled skinned, and fine with it. However I do modeling work and it just doesn't look good if someone's so white you can see their blue veins popping out. I use a gradual self tan on my arms and legs and sometimes get a light spray tan. I certainly don't look orange, just a little less vampirish than I usually do. It's either that or having to wear tights on the job I'm afraid!
I would much rather a teen gets a spray tan that comes off in 5 days then ruins their skin on a tanning bed or does various other stupid things teens do.

HotCrossPun · 27/06/2013 21:46

Well I LOVE a bit of tan.

I think a lot more people wear it then the nay-sayers realise.

They just see people who have applied it badly/put too much on and think that it doesn't look great.

FreudiansSlipper · 27/06/2013 22:00

i love a bit of fake tan

my oilve skin tends to look a little sallow if i have not have much time in the sun fake tan perks my skin up

thebody · 27/06/2013 23:42

Of course don't be a twat!!!

AgnesBligg · 27/06/2013 23:46

I pop some on if I'm looking a bit peaky. Also olive skin here.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 28/06/2013 08:58

I just think it looks fake...it NEVER looks real.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 28/06/2013 08:58

Can anyone who uses it regularly recommend one that does look real?
