To want to go out and throw a stinger across the road!!!

Every Wednesday night, there is a local motorbike meet up. I have nothing against people on motorcycles, or even people on motorcycles who meet up and cruise around.
I do have issue with motorcyclists who remove the silencers from their exhausts and do huge circuits of the area, showing a blatant disregard for the speed limit. I live on a long straight road, and the speed limit is fucking FORTY MILES AN HOUR! Not 70!
The police do absolutely NOTHING!

Keep on at the Police. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.

We had a similar problem here, motorbikes and everyone else going through a 30mph limit at streak-of-lightning mph and the Police ignored it for ages, but eventually got fed up with my neighbour nagging them and now they set up mobile speed traps every now & then (and we have to make sure we don't get caught!)

CreatureRetorts · 19/06/2013 21:12

Complain to your local councillor. They love this sort of thing

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 21:42

Yes, you are. Leave people alone.

Sparklingbrook · 19/06/2013 21:44

YANBU.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/06/2013 21:46

So noise pollution and breaking the speed limit are acceptable to you then Morticia?

Through a stick into the spokes.

Grin

I had a knob on a back driving up and down and I really wanted to put a wire across the road to clothes line him Grin

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 19/06/2013 21:47

Throw**

ShellyBoobs · 19/06/2013 21:49

YABU.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/06/2013 21:51

Is that you SP? Grin

LuisSuarezTeeth · 19/06/2013 21:52

YANBU we have the same here. It's not acceptable - do you have a residents' group or anything like that?

WMittens · 19/06/2013 21:53

Assuming you know what a stinger is and what it does, then yes, you are being unreasonable to want to cause an extremely nasty accident that may kill someone.

morticia74 · 19/06/2013 21:54

Yep

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/06/2013 21:54

No sadly. We are a handful of houses strung out along a fairly busy country road. I think I will have a moan at the police, and see if they will put a speed trap along here.

OP posts:
morticia74 · 19/06/2013 21:55

Don't like it....move.

WMittens · 19/06/2013 21:56

I had a knob on a back driving up and down and I really wanted to put a wire across the road to clothes line him

AKA decapitation.

It's very surprising to see mumsnet posters effectively condoning murder, I thought I'd been redirected to daily mail.

MissMarplesBloomers · 19/06/2013 21:56

YANBU- get a few of you to stand outside in hi viz vests with a clipboard & pretend to take down the numbers (or really take them down if you want to report them)

If they challenge you just say you're doing a residents survey & smile sweetly. Grin

That's really amusing!

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 19/06/2013 21:59

WM Not murder! Not to chop his head off. Just maybe knock him off the bike Grin In my defense he was doing wheelies, doughnuts and revving at 2 am

cherryade8 · 19/06/2013 21:59

Yanbu.

MrsCosmopilite · 19/06/2013 21:59

I feel your pain. We are on a bit of a rat run and quite often get racer boys with their loud cars belting along the road, music blaring, etc. at all hours. Them and the really really annoying teens on their moped things that go around and around and around and around sounding like overgrown mosquitos.
The speed limit on my road is 30 but after 8pm everyone seems to think it has magically increased to 60mph. Unfortunately in recent years a few people trying to top that 'target' have laminated themselves into the railway bridge which is found just after a sharp bend.

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 19/06/2013 22:00

Saggy No idea who this SP person is that you speak off ot what made you think I was them

Grin
Fookinell · 19/06/2013 22:04

I also feel your pain, the same thing happens here too. I`ve asked for my next birthday present to be a bloody great rocket launcher on the roof then i can blow the bastards into oblivion....My lovely cat was killed by sodding speed demons outside my house a few months agoSad

50shadesofbrown · 19/06/2013 22:05

I knew someone who used to stand out on the road side in a high visibility jacket with what looked like a mobile speed recorder device. A lot of cars apparently used to brake quite sharply when they saw him. He wasn't harming anyone, threatening anyone, causing any hazard on the road, & I don't think it's illegal or anything.

Speed limits are there for a reason. Breaking the speed limit is A CRIME. I can never understand why people don't get that.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 19/06/2013 22:07

It's very surprising to see mumsnet posters effectively condoning murder, I thought I'd been redirected to daily mail. Hmm
Oh dear!

Im considering a square yellow bird box in the tree next to the road!

Dress in a dark clothing or a hi-vis vest and stand by the side of the road pointing your hairdryer at them.

Hopefully they'll think you're a police officer with a speed gun.

:)
