For this to make me cringe

So as usual, there's a lot of status updates on FB 'to' Dads in the normal, boring vein of 'thanks for bring the best dad in the world etc etc'. Which I read and think 'eurgh' at the best of times. (send a card! say it to his face!) But goodness to gracious I've just come across a right corker:

'Thank you to my darling Fiancé on Fathers Day for loving the spirits of our future children'

oh dear!

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 16/06/2013 11:02

Usual- jog on, there's a dear

Was that really necessary? She only asked you a perfectly reasonable question.

Don't post on AIBU if you aren't prepared to be told you are.

FWIW you aren't it's cringeworthy - but hey, you choose to FB and to keep her on your friends list.

usualsuspect · 16/06/2013 11:07

You do know how to hide status updates don't you?

TheFantasticFixit · 16/06/2013 11:09

Usual - I do, in the same way that I'm sure you know how to hide threads you don't like.

I'm more than happy to take whatever AIBU throws at you but Usual does have a habit of these little snipes at posters.

usual how does one unhide people? I accidentally hid people!

The thing with unfriending people on facebook is they occasionally notice and then message you asking why. That has happened to me more than once.

AnotherLovelyCupOfCoffee · 16/06/2013 11:12

oh god that made me laugh! what a loooon!

Chivetalking · 16/06/2013 11:12

Wanktastic Grin

usualsuspect · 16/06/2013 11:13

Err, ok then.

piratecat · 16/06/2013 11:13

lolol cheese

SoggySummer · 16/06/2013 11:16

Hahahahaha!!! I would keep someone like that on my FB for comedy value!

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 16/06/2013 11:17

It makes me cringe too, and it's naff as all get-out, but I think harsh for anyone to say she hasn't thought about infertility. You'll feel a right arse if you find out she's been miscarrying and her naff status update was related to that. People are odd how they react but I can imagine that being a kind of determined 'we are going to have a baby' thing, possibly.

Probably not, mind!

MalenkyRusskyDrakonchik · 16/06/2013 11:18

Sorry! Blush

JessKM · 16/06/2013 11:19

I secretly hope this person is on MN so she will be shamed into stopping

iwantanafternoonnap · 16/06/2013 11:20

Oh god I know people who would post stuff like that as well. I wonder did she get any likes or responses Grin

lottiegarbanzo · 16/06/2013 11:38

Well maybe Ms Dragonchik and maybe she believes in some sort of child-spirit reincarnation and maybe she's pregnant (but I don't think you'd talk about 'future spirits' in either case).

I'm just saying to me it is not so much cringey and shudder-inducing, as I think it's meant to suggest lovely floaty child-fairies just waiting to be made incarnate by her and the lovely fiance but, to me, 'spirits' does prompt thoughts of death. That makes me feel very uncomfortable for her, as she could have all sorts of problems and sad experiences and I'm not sure a belief in pre-destination and spirit-children who are 'meant to be' will help. But hey, the idea conveyed is so far from my conception of the world that I can't possibly know and maybe these ideas will help her enormously, whatever happens.

Trills · 16/06/2013 11:40

Oh dear, that's so twee it is nearly creepy.

lovely floaty child-fairies just waiting to be made incarnate by her and the lovely fiance

They are creepy enough without needing to think of death.

SEWannabe · 16/06/2013 11:41

Jeez, i think i just vomitied a little!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 16/06/2013 11:45

Did he post a card to his soon to be wives ovaries on Mother's Day huh? Huh? I think not. There isn't much equality in their relationship is there? She should LTB

Oldraver · 16/06/2013 11:59

But were there any replies ?

Fakebook · 16/06/2013 12:04

Can I just use this opportunity to wish my DH happy Father's Day and for being the perfect daddy to our two gawjus kids, and our lil bun in the oven. All three of our babbys love their daddy. Love ya babe.

Thanks.

TheFantasticFixit · 16/06/2013 12:04

Haha - I,agine an Ode to the Ovaries on Mother's Day!

No, no likes or comments. Clearly I'm not the only one cringing. I really don't think this is about pregnancy or losses - she writes a lot of this sort of stuff on a regular basis. She posts a lot of Love And Light messages and even runs some sort of classes about believing in your own 'magic'...

TheFantasticFixit · 16/06/2013 12:05
