Is just seems like another bit of benefit bashing to me.

I know she shouldn't have had children she couldn't afford, but what hope of improving her lot???

I think I asked first, how she wasn't putting her children first.
I would seriously like to know.
I daresay there could be other choices that wouldn't make financial sense such as working, paying childcare and having nothing left.
Working and getting God knows who to do the caring for her dc with sn. Then having even less money to raise them.
Thats considering she is able to work, is the DLA for her or the dc, because they don't award this for nothing.

grumpyinthemorning · 12/06/2013 19:23

Actually, I said the term ignoramus had become inflammatory...

FasterStronger · 12/06/2013 19:26

where does it say her DC quality for DLA?

Clare Bache's current benefits per month, ahead of the cap due this summer:
Housing benefit: £715
Child benefit: £377
Child tax credit: £1,252
Income support: £303

Total: £2,647

I am inflammatory to feegle-are you actually having a laugh? I have remained polite and not resorted to name calling. Oh and none of my posts have been deleted?

Must try harder Ashoe Grin

I'm just stating fact.

AmberLeaf · 12/06/2013 19:29

Couthy yep, thats what I said is a tad confusing about this story.

I need to know if she is actually getting DLA. If she is, then this whole story is just nonsense designed to stir up debate, if she isnt getting it....then I suggest she applies.

AmberLeaf · 12/06/2013 19:31

FasterStronger it was hollyberrybush that said this woman gets two lots of DLA and carers, I quoted her post upthread.

not sure where she got that info from.

morethanpotatoprints · 12/06/2013 19:31

Are you drunk? Amazon? Yes but you raised a load of bollocks, unfortunately, as you can't reduce a tax bill you don't have.
Anyway you will be pleased to know I checked with tax office and they said it made good sense. So unless you'd like to tell them they have it wrong.... Grin

Ok, now for anybody else. I haven't said she is a great mother or anything else. I have asked after a post claiming she wasn't doing the best for her dc, how this was explained.

AmberLeaf · 12/06/2013 19:32

Also Fasterstronger, those benefits you listed are means tested DLA is not.

Dawndonna · 12/06/2013 19:35

Faster
You forgot to take off 'money you already have coming in'.
So you need to take child benefit off that figure.

ItsallFeegle · 12/06/2013 19:35

Oh my God - it's extremely Sad that my fellow Glaswegian has such harsh, harsh views Confused

FasterStronger · 12/06/2013 19:36

Amber - I don't disagree with you. but I cannot find a newspaper saying she is a carer or mentioning DLA.

if she was a carer she would not be unemployed?

morethan - I am sure some of what you say is true. its which bit...

Bonquers · 12/06/2013 19:36

My cleaner gets paid £10 an hour. Hardly minimum wage. She does an excellent job and is turning people away.

I don't fancy my chances of getting away with fraud, lets put it that way. i like to be able to sleep at night, i'm old fashioned like that, honest upbringing and such. Smile

FasterStronger · 12/06/2013 19:42

amazon are not committing fraud. they are just seeking to maximise their benefits and minimise what they contribute. like you.

I on the other hand deserve a medal for the taxes that I pay Grin nighty nighty Grin

BeauNidle · 12/06/2013 19:45

She has done an interview iwth the express a couple of hours ago to hit back at those saying she should get a job.

She states it is all the governments fault that she is in this mess.

Hmm oh riiiiiiiiight

Ashoething · 12/06/2013 19:47

Yep that's right feegle-a weegie brought up in a very deprived area in a single parent family who didn't use that as excuse to become a junkie/alkie. We are a rare breed I shall admit.

usualsuspect · 12/06/2013 19:51

So you think single mothers that are not junkies/alkies are a rare breed?

This thread just keeps on giving.

Haha Ashoe - you're killing me! Grin

JanuaryTwenty · 12/06/2013 19:56

morethanpotatoprints @ 17:31:33, I agree with you totally. There are all kinds of nastiness and bigotry being expressed here. Tarring everyone who is on benefits with the same mean-spirited and illiberal brush is wrong, but it's what the DM and the Tories do and I am frightened to think that so many people fall for it.

frissonpink · 12/06/2013 19:57

Bloody hell - is that really how much she is getting?

We are scraping by at the minute on take home pay of £1100 and child benefit of £80. We have to pay our own mortgage (£600) and council tax (£110) and all the other bills (electricity, water, insurances etc) We just about make ends meet with nothing left over for socialising, clothing, going out etc. All DD's clothes have been charity or ebay.

I was sympathetic. Now I think I'm pissed off.

You missed my point entirely usual-I was trying to point out that I was brought up in exactly the same circumstances as these people who feegle keeps instisting are merely victims rather than responsible for their own actions.

Being brought up by a single mother who has worked 2 jobs for 30 years-and continues to do so-I am well aware that there are hard working single parents out there. Sadly this feckless woman isn't one of them.
