to be disappointed that new superman film is rating 12A

We have been looking forward to the new superman film coming out & thought we could take DS, esp as its being released just before Father's Day, so it would have been a nice family treat on Sunday.

But they have made it a 12A so he will be too young. Why couldn't they make a nice PG film that everyone could enjoy?

But apart from that, I thought it would be a continuation of Superman Returns. Instead its a remake of Superman 2. Can't they think of a storyline to carry the story on with his son? We will still watch it (if we can get a babysitter) at some point, but AIBU to be a bit meh about it now

Thought this would be the opposite way.
I'm gutted its only a 12
Would have loved to have seen the batman movies let off the leash a bit more as well

How old is your dc?

OwlinaTree · 11/06/2013 19:33

I thought you could see a 12a if you were under 12 but with an adult?

foreverondiet · 11/06/2013 19:33

I thought a child under 12 can see a12 film if accompanied by an adult so don't see why you annoyed...

Soupqueen · 11/06/2013 19:37

He can watch it with you, he just can't go alone/with friends until he is 12.

Startail · 11/06/2013 19:37

It only means no unaccompanied under 12s.

You need to check the reviews to see why it's a 12.

The later scarer HPs are and they don't bother 8+ so is hunger games and Twlight that isn't suitable at that age, it's a bit of a random rating.

LST · 11/06/2013 19:38

You can.. That's why I was wondering.

It means 12 but accompanied or something like that. So unless the ops ds is a todder there won't be an issue.

Bowlersarm · 11/06/2013 19:38

He can watch it with you.

Pozzled · 11/06/2013 19:39

Any age can go to a 12A as long as they're accompanied. It was changed from the old 12 certificate because other parents felt the same as you OP when the first Spiderman came out. (Or so I understand).

My ds is 4 and a half and would love to see it. Too young perhaps?

Roary1, you do know that's illegal? Hmm.

plentyofsoap · 11/06/2013 19:42

Don't know what happened then, sorry!

50shadesofvomit · 11/06/2013 19:42

Most superhero movies are 12a. Avengers, Ironman, Spider-Man so Im not surprised that Superman is. Im definitely not watching it if its a remake of Superman 2.

FaithLehane · 11/06/2013 19:43

I'll be taking my 2 to see it on Saturday, they're 10 and 6.

SgtTJCalhoun · 11/06/2013 19:46

The BBFC site says its PG here

jammiedonut · 11/06/2013 19:46

12a just means you have to go with him, but it's not really recommended for very small children. Like the old pg ratings. Bit of a non-issue really!

INeedSomeSun · 11/06/2013 19:48

My DS is 5. I know legally he could see it, but it is classified as suitable for 12 year olds for a reason...

Fakebook I access the Pirate Bay via a VPN tunnel...it is like a digital condom.

Soupqueen · 11/06/2013 19:51

If they made it suitable for 5 year olds, I'm guessing it would alienate a lot of its target audience. 5 is pretty young.

Tee2072 · 11/06/2013 19:51

No, it's not, Roary. You're gonna get burned. And, possibly, arrested.
