Read the LM thing. You might learn something.

exoticfruits · 05/06/2013 06:54

I honestly never notice the adverts- I couldn't tell you what they were for.

IceNoSlice · 05/06/2013 07:13

NorksAreMessy I completely agree with you.

FarBetterNow · 05/06/2013 07:13

I didn't appreciate the ad for online gambling which came up after I'd looked or commented on a thread about a compulsive gambler of a DH.

I did think that was entirely inappropriate.

valiumredhead · 05/06/2013 08:13

No way would I pay subs, in fact I came here because the last parenting forum I used introduced subs.

halcyondays · 05/06/2013 08:21

Yabu

candyandyoga · 05/06/2013 08:24

No I don't want to pay and to suggest a Means tested way is ridiculous.

Although I do agree that I don't want to see Louise Mensch

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 05/06/2013 08:30

I don't mind the ads, though they really slow down the page loader, especially the running away from home one (not at the top, but the one that shades in down the side)

differentnameforthis · 05/06/2013 08:32

You can block adverts with an ad blocker. I do, it's awesome!

StuntGirl · 05/06/2013 08:34

I can guarantee that there's nothing Lousie Mensch thinks that could teach me anything.

Lazyjaney · 05/06/2013 09:01

If you paid you'd still get Louise Mensch, unless you went for thecself- tailorable Platinum option

(taps nose...)

The adverts are fine...

TheBirdsFellDownToDingADong · 05/06/2013 09:14

That must be a lovely position to be in Triumph.......you are the envy of many....Grin

flippinada · 05/06/2013 09:16

Adverts genuinely don't bother me but I fully understand why you don't want to see Louise Mensch's smirking face plastered all over the site, that gave me quite a turn.

flippinada · 05/06/2013 09:18

MN could maybe do a two tier thing, subscriptions for people who want them? Others who aren't fussed could use the free site with ads etc.

MarshaBrady · 05/06/2013 09:18

I could happily take the LM-free version however.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/06/2013 09:19

dear god the day Louise Mensch can "teach" me something I will take a long walk off a shor cliff.

Vegehamwidge · 05/06/2013 09:23

Haha! I thought it was strange for MN to feature a blogger, photo and all, whose whole point is simply that women should make effort to look nice for their husbands. Like we haven't heard that one before!

MarshaBrady · 05/06/2013 09:26

Also I think the vibe was that it was strange that the press went overboard repeating the phrase. So.... do it all again months later just incase we've forgotten.

Wishiwasanheiress · 05/06/2013 09:26

Keep mn free.

Grrr....

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 05/06/2013 09:30

I don't like the ads because they're too eye-catching and make it harder to use MN at work Grin.

Neither do I appreciate constantly being greeted with Louise Mensch's mug and half-baked ideas.

I'm too tight to want to pay a subscription though. Couldn't Mumsnet Towers magic it up so that you can click a 'hide ads' button or something?

and just stop putting the Mensch on the site at all

LovelyMarchHare · 05/06/2013 09:44

the ads dont bother me and I rarely notice them. I do draw the line at Louise Mensch however. I understand that some people on this site may enjoy what she has to say. Personally I can't stand her brand of politics or her views.

DeepRedBetty · 05/06/2013 09:56

I now ignore all the top threads in Active until I get to the first one that doesn't have a funny little MN thing by it. And I don't look at the top or right hand side of the page at all. The only ad that's wound me up recently was when Karcher had moving ones either side of the page in the entirety of Good HouseKeeping, and after a massive moan in Site Stuff it went away at the end of their booking and hopefully won't come back, as so many people told HQ it was actively putting them off buying Karcher.

LayMizzRarb · 05/06/2013 10:02

Who is Louise menhcs?
