Registering 26 degrees in DS's room and he is as restless as feck. Didn't get him to sleep last night until half twelve. Gah.

YABU! The weather is beaauuutiful!

dementedma · 04/06/2013 22:15

Lovely to see the sun here in Scotland. Love sleeping with the window open and listening to the birds singing. Love that Ds can go to school without a coat on.
YABU

MasterSplinter · 04/06/2013 22:18

I don't like it either. It makes me ill.

I particularly don't like people telling me I should love it just because they do. Particularly people who spend 80% of their time whining about it being cold the rest of the year. Grin

HairyWorm · 04/06/2013 23:12

YANBU
28 weeks pregnant, already the size of a hippopotamus and big fat swollen ankles.
I want some cool weather.

musicposy · 04/06/2013 23:44

Who is getting all this hot weather? We're down south and it's pleasant (about time too!) to the point that I'm thinking the heating could go off (never before can I remember waiting until June to consider this). In no way could I call it hot.

"That will have been me, and I'm in sunny Yorkshire! smile Absolutely boiling here today,"

I am in sunny Yorkshire as well. It got up to 19 degrees in Sheffield yesterday. That isn't boiling. I still had my cardi on.

"I particularly don't like people telling me I should love it just because they do. Particularly people who spend 80% of their time whining about it being cold the rest of the year."

Because you get the sort of weather you like for most of the year, so it is only fair for us summer lovers to enjoy the type of weather we want on the odd occasion the sun comes out and the thermometer rises above 20 degrees or so.

We had a mini heatwave when I was 8 months pregnant and I still wasn't uncomfortable. Maybe my internal thermostat is set at a different temperature to most of you.

randgirl · 05/06/2013 07:03

Really?? Confused.

It was 25 here yesterday and we are in winter now....

if during the night, its 26 degrees in the bedroom, then yes that can be a bit uncomfortable, but you need to not let the sun shine in the room all day. Close the curtains in the day, it will keep the temp down as suns not shining in. But if its 26 in the day, yes yabu.

Poppy55 · 05/06/2013 07:09

Yabu it's lovely.

If you need to cool your sons room hang lots of wet towels and washing it brings the temp down a bit.

Poppy55 · 05/06/2013 07:11

Waving to yorkshire folk.

24 in my garden for the last two days according to my weather station.

Branleuse · 05/06/2013 07:18

you resent it being warm when we get barely any heat all year and its been the coldest spring in decades???

get yourself a fan and stop complaining

digerd · 05/06/2013 07:25

Today is only 9 degrees and cloudy, but very strangly, last night I was too hot in bed for the first time in decades - apart from the few days of mini heatwave last year- . Confused

MakeItUpAsYouGoAlong · 05/06/2013 07:31

I hate it too Hmm

DragonMamma · 05/06/2013 07:40

YABU, It's been 24/25ish the past days in my south facing garden in sunny Wales. It's such a sun trap that we decamped to the beach the other evening for a few hours and it was still 21c at 7pm. Lovely!

Alligatorpie · 05/06/2013 07:40

NormallyI love the heat, but it was 46c two days ago and we were all melting. It is now back to a very reasonable and wonderful 36c.
As long as it stays below 40c, I am happy. At 26c, I would be comfortable in long sleeves.

Obviously, I am not in the UK.:)

Bunbaker · 05/06/2013 08:51

"you resent it being warm when we get barely any heat all year and its been the coldest spring in decades??? get yourself a fan and stop complaining"

I agree. What are the "hot" weather complainers actually doing to deal with this "heat"?

Incidentally, the 5 day forecast for my part of South Yorkshire goes like this:
Today: 15 degrees cloudy
Thursday: 18 degrees sunny
Friday: 17 degrees sunny
Saturday: 17 degrees sunny
Sunday: 17 degrees partly cloudy

Not exactly a heatwave is it!

GalaxyDefender · 05/06/2013 09:16

I do think it's funny that people get all het up about people not liking hot weather. I would love it if we never got above about 18/19 degrees, that's perfectly nice weather to me. Anything more is TOO HOT for me.
I don't care if you love it, that's nice for you. Doesn't take away our right to whinge about it, particularly in view of the fact that sun-worshippers tend to gripe constantly about it being too cold ...

FFS I went outside for an hour with DS yesterday and managed to get both sunburn (missed a spot with the suncream) and a heat-related headache. It wasn't even the hottest time of day! I think it was about 20 degrees here yesterday, and it's only going to go up Sad

Oh, it's also easier to warm up if it's too cold than it is to cool down if it's too hot. So there. OP, YANBU. I am dreading the next couple of months, as always. It's a shame, because it's mine and DS' birthday next week but I never enjoy it because it's always too fecking hot!

Bunbaker · 05/06/2013 09:42

"I do think it's funny that people get all het up about people not liking hot weather"

Probably because your idea of hot isn't really hot is it. And we get precious few days of hot weather in the UK anyway.

"Oh, it's also easier to warm up if it's too cold than it is to cool down if it's too hot"

No. I don't find that at all. If I am very cold putting on an extra jumper makes very little difference. I would need hot soup and some form of external heating as well.

CloudsAndTrees · 05/06/2013 09:47

YABU! I only turned the heating off a couple of weeks ago (if that) the weather is lovely! My pasty blotchy skin is looking better already.

GemmaTeller · 05/06/2013 09:57

I love it, absolutely love it and need to be outside in it.

The hotter the better for me!

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 05/06/2013 13:38

Think some people must have their thermometer in the sun, it's been fairly tepid the last few days. Although a welcome change from bloody freezing.

DH and I were trying to work out yesterday when our last really hot summer had been - we think 2005!

SaskiaRembrandtVampireHunter · 05/06/2013 14:13

YABU - I'm in Yorkshire too (near Sheffield), it was only about 19C here, so warm, but definitely not hot, I still needed to wear a jumper. And today it's overcast with a cool breeze.

"DH and I were trying to work out yesterday when our last really hot summer had been - we think 2005!"

It was 2006 for us - I remember this because I blogged about a trip we took not because I'm some kind of obsessive weather recorder Grin

Bunbaker · 05/06/2013 14:54

"Think some people must have their thermometer in the sun"

I agree. I think some people don't understand that the temperatures given for weather forecasts are temperatures in the shade

marcopront · 05/06/2013 15:13

Another one not in the UK but it's in the 30s here all the time.

We're off to the UK in a couple of weeks I'm looking forward to being cooler.

Poppy55 · 05/06/2013 16:13

No mines in the shade! My house thermometer ( weather station) is also giving 20 plus. As is my car!

It's hot hot hot here.

lljkk · 05/06/2013 16:38

Struggling to get above 18 here. In sun or indoors. Envy Envy
