I am guessing this thread might upset some people but really...? DH and i were shocked to learn someone we know is breastfeeding a child who can walk and speak and self determine...dh wouldn't discuss it over lunch...

Oh dear, and another biscuit if I could be arsed finding one, ds, not only over 2 but actally asking for Mummy's 'boomers'.

Justfornowitwilldo · 31/05/2013 23:50

Your DH was distracted at lunch because he's decided he's been living a lie. He is running away to Peru with a unicycling claims adjuster called Nigel. They will make a living farming llamas and teaching interpretive dance.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 31/05/2013 23:50

My 2.2 year old won't stop poking his fingers into nappy bins in public loos when I tell him, won't stay on the pavement when I tell him, won't eat his lunch when I tell him but he will breastfeed all bloody night just to please me, his selfish mother who likes to keep him dependent on her.

I too had a chuckle at 'dh wouldn't discuss it over lunch'.

I bf one of mine till 3 and the other until four and a half, yes, four and a half Shock . Nawzyating.

5madthings · 31/05/2013 23:51

That's better than ds1 violet who would have one aide and ask for 'titty two' Blush I mad ensure the next madthings called or soemhting more acctable!

OxfordBags · 31/05/2013 23:51

My 2 yr old can walk... Straight to my breasts for a feed. My 2 yr old can talk... Endlessly about his love of boobs and how tasty my milk is. My 2 yr old can self-determine... That no-one better get in the way of him and his BFing.

But yes, it is entirely normal to drink the milk of other mammals but disgusting to drink the milk of one's own mother - milk that constantly changes to meet your health and developmental needs - when you are at an age that humans are designed to still be nursing at Hmm

This half-term's been dull, hasn't it?

chillinwithmyyonis · 31/05/2013 23:51

What do you think 'milk teeth' are for exactly? You know that drop out from the age of 5,6,7 shock horror?

This is a heartening article on extended (or normal human) breastfeeding,

I'm still bfing a 2yr old, he beats me up otherwise and I like an easy life.

Thinkingpositively · 31/05/2013 23:51

Wow! O.K that's a really strong reaction!! I'm not a parent yet. Finding our way having lots of discussions about parenting and how we want to do things. I'm not disgusted by breastfeeding a baby, I just can't imagine breast feeding an older child and find it a bit strange. Thank you for the feedback that hasn't been verbally abusive. I am new to being a mum and loving the changes my body is going through but it's also a whole new world and don't know what i'm going to feel as time goes on!! And whoever asked whether DH wears a cravat...yes sometimes...... what is wrong with that..

None of your business really, OP.

YABU.

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 31/05/2013 23:52

Maryz perhaps you should direct your comment to the person who used the word. I was called a moron, not the other way round. Read the thread.

HotCrossPun · 31/05/2013 23:53

I've no Biscuit left. I ate them all Blush

usualsuspect · 31/05/2013 23:54

Bit difficult to read the thread, on account of all the deletions.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 31/05/2013 23:54

At what age do you think an infant should be stopped from breastfeeding OP?

Ds2 named mine, booby and sweetheart. Apparently sweetheart tasted nicer.Hmm

I didn't think I'd want to discuss someone else's feeding choices over lunch either. Not because it's disgusting, but because its none of my business

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 31/05/2013 23:55

I believe HoHoHo made a 'hilarious' reference to 'bitty' which has since been deleted.

chillinwithmyyonis · 31/05/2013 23:56

Well look at how you've worded your original op, its quite offensive to the ones of us that still breastfeed our toddlers.

some offensive remarks about feeding your children cows milk too.

but hey ho.

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 31/05/2013 23:58

Thinking.... I never imagined myself feeding a toddler either, but the boys had other ideas and at 2 they are still your baby. To someone not used to kids a 2 year old seems huge and well developed, but they're still babies and why would I deny my babies the milk they want and need for nutrition and comfort?

All three of mine self weaned at 12 months, 2.6 and 2.10 and I couldn't have imagined forcing them to stop before they were ready.

TheChaoGoesMu · 31/05/2013 23:58

Hmm, Nope, I've eaten them all. Ok, I'll have to settle for mind your own beeswax then. Hope this helps.
