You should have better photos than these?

Spot the loo roll!

I feel quite sad that everyone has slated on a public forum, the people who live in this house.

You have no idea of the problems they may have in their lives.

There is a OP on relationships who is struggling massively with MH issues and her very expensive house is a complete tip as she cannot cope.

I think this thread is very mean and should be pulled.

Antisecco · 31/05/2013 11:31

Agree Farbetter but more to the point I can't see anything wrong with it. The so say downsides are all cosmetic it seems to me, and the 'mess' is nothing that a few hours of a cleaning lady couldn't deal with. Personally I think it's quite refreshing that it has obviously not been staged; not that I am in the market for a £1m+ house!

FarBetterNow · 31/05/2013 11:53

Anti: I agree with you.
The toilet roll won't be for sale.
I think it is daft that potential purchasers cannot see past the decor and furniture that isn't to their liking in any house.
A bit of mess and grime surely isn't a problem - it can be cleaned.

TakingTheStairs · 31/05/2013 11:53

FarBetterNow in the nicest possible way.. get a grip!

Nobody is judging a random person on the state of their house, if you are trying to sell your house, you make an effort to present it in the best possible light.
If those photos is the best effort someone can make to sell their house. it makes every potential buyer wonder how bad maintenance and upkeep of the house has been too.

Now, if you were to come onto this forum being nasty about someone's house that wasn't meant to have been prepared for public viewing that would be awful. But this house is meant to be ready for public viewing.

BeauNidle · 31/05/2013 11:57

Is that a coffin above the bed.

What a hideous house.

It's a steal of a price for the area.

HollyBerryBush · 31/05/2013 12:15

The rental value alone would be in the region of £4K per month

If you go into the gubbins of Zoopla:

Value data/graphs

Zoopla Estimate £1,221,930

Value change: + £61,103 (5.3%)

from 1 year ago

Rental value: £4,300 pcm

Value range
£1,186,228 - £1,257,632
Rental range
£3,799 - £4,801 pcm

Antisecco · 31/05/2013 13:13

it makes every potential buyer wonder how bad maintenance and upkeep of the house has been too.

You may be right Stairs but this wouldn't always be justified, and it might in fact indicate totally different priorities. For example our house has the most stunning infrastructure/underwear! Think Janet Reager, Rigby and Peller, but the outer garments not so much...more Primark on sale day! Grin

manicinsomniac · 31/05/2013 13:15

Gosh, it's a lot nicer than my house! And I have loo roll by my bed every time I have a cold. I can't see why it has to be a dodgy thing!

I agree it's unusual for the photos on those sites not to look like show homes but surely it's no worse than your average family home on a Sunday afternoon?

CuppaSarah · 31/05/2013 13:45

I just love Daphnes disapproving glare.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 31/05/2013 13:46

Is that a corpse in the guest room?

pigletmania · 31/05/2013 13:48

Is that all you get for 1.3 million Shock. I have seen much nicer houses advertised for less than that in my county f Buckinghamhire. Not a nice house sorry. Even my house is much nicer looking than that!

FunnysInLaJardin · 31/05/2013 13:57

I'm guessing a sale due to divorce. Someone doesn't want to sell!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 31/05/2013 14:02

It's little things that get me like the wrinkled up mat/rug thing in the kitchen and the kink in the bedroom curtains. Whoever was holding the camera was obviously one of 'those people' that some poor MN-er has been living with for years and complains bitterly that 'they just don't seem to see the mess!!!' Either that or (judging by the number of wine bottles on the dining room table) pissed.

HarderToKidnap · 31/05/2013 14:09

Our tiny 800 sq ft terrace a couple of roads away has just been valued at 475k, so can easily imagine that monstrosity going for 1.3 mil - it's AWFUL though.

FatimaLovesBread · 31/05/2013 14:17

But they bought it March 2011 for £1.08 million and then put it up for sale one year later for £1.375 millions, that's £300k more a year later Shock
It's now on at two different prices depending which agent you go to.
And the one with the worst photos is the most recent listing Confused

It's an odd design, wonder if it was 3 houses turned in to 1. All the windows are different.

rockybalboa · 31/05/2013 14:25

Oh my word. Half cooked meals in the kitchen, unmade beds and tv on? Just plain weird. Not surprised at the price for the house itself given the size and the area but shocked at how an agent would market a house with photos like that.

Tailtwister · 31/05/2013 14:28

Very odd. What's with the towel on the kitchen floor?

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 31/05/2013 14:36

There is a toilet roll on the headboard

They are living in a tip.

CSIJanner · 31/05/2013 14:38

The garage has got eyes Shock

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 31/05/2013 14:40

What on earth is that on the cooker hood? It seems to be covered in clingfilmConfused

SilverOldie · 31/05/2013 15:09

It has no soul, looks messy and unloved. I wouldn't even pay the .3m for it.

pigletmania · 31/05/2013 15:13

Gosh you don't get much for your money do you! It's a ghastly house both inside and out. Very boxy and dated. My house is far cheaper but looks much better. Somehow they won sell at that price

Justfornowitwilldo · 31/05/2013 15:25

It's Surbiton. If it had a hell mouth in the back garden it would still sell if they tweaked the pricing.
