To think that Tesco don't give a monkeys - twin trolley issues

I have been having an on and off battle with my local Tesco (the only supermarket without driving 13 miles or so) for a while.

Ever since my twins were born I have struggled with trolleys.

When they needed the reclining seat trolleys, they were always tucked away at the back so I had to pull out 10 or 20 trolleys to get them out. I would the have to clean them as they were always filthy (I did find a manager once and gave him a handful of really manky baby wipes from where I had cleaned one)

Now they are in the normal trolleys, I always struggle to find a twin one. They are normally half way down a row of trolleys because the trolley boys don't seem to have a brain cell and put them there.

I have complained to the store manager and have even been on a customer focus group where I made my feelings known about the trolleys. I was told then ( over a month ago) that trolleys were on order.

Today, after searching the lines of trolleys in the dry storage area, I had to check all of the trolley bays in the car park, in torrential rain. There were none, so I had to put one twin in the seat and the other in the trolley (which I detest as it isn't fair on the next user to have dirty shoes in the bottom of a trolley)

Should I really kick off about this now?

As a twin mum, yes, it is infuriating. And Tesco are generally one of the worst (equal with ASDA in my experience). But they often have quite a few of the 'twin' seated trolleys as tbh other parents can use those as well. They are less likely to use the twin baby seat trolleys so it does make sense to keep the less specialist trolleys together even if they are mixed in.

I'm of the 'online shopping is a solution' camp. But equally, shop further away if you get a better experience.

I too have a drive to shop as we live rurally. A few extra miles yields Sainsbury's and Morrison's who are very helpful if needed.

I really disagree with those who say just do online shopping. I hate the idea and would always end up having to go to get bits I'd forgotten. The trolley thing drives me mad too, finding one with a baby and a toddler seat was also very difficult. I agree that the Morrisons solution is the best. All their trolleys can be twin or single ones, just by them putting the metal bars in a slightly different place. I also think that actually, if Tesco wants to advertise itself with the "every little helps" idea, then they should take on board the fact that in most places where their IS competition they'll lose out because of this. I do have the choice of all major supermarkets within 15mins and shop according to which kids I have with me and ease of trolley access.

Ha ha midnite scribbler. Good to see an adult response or at least an argument why I am being unreasonable.

I haven't read the whole thread cos I am a bit scared tbh of the type of posts I have glanced at but...op yanbu. Not at all. I have 16mo twins and I am not self entitled (why do people always think we are?)but I was really really pissed off at my local Aldi we go there every Friday am leaves our weekend free etc and the other day I went there and they had got rid of ALL of their double trollies to make way for smaller single ones Shock. So I couldn't do my shopping, I don't want to shop online and I want to go to the supermarket I want and I don't want to have to look around in the pissing down rain for a double trolley if they exist at all....why should I?!? Anyway rant over, what me and dh do now is go on a Saturday and take a trolley each or I go on my own (but it really isn't how I like to do my shopping ;) )

Well Tesco obviously don't think I am being self entitled, there is no solution or whatever other crap was dished out. All twin trolleys are no placed separately with the specialist trolleys.

I guess I was right !

Tesco have good customer service. That's why they replaced the trolleys separately.

Yes Miaowthecat. I can decide to drive an extra 26 mile round trip if I don't want to use them. And it was more the point that it would be easy for them to provide good customer service, which they actually did after complaining to HO.

It was the fact that on the day in the pouring rain what should have been simple wasn't. If you are happy to struggle then fine but we would rather not. And a social disability. What a stupid comment.

When my friend had triplets she put a request into our local store to get a Triple seated trolley. They refused and said she was able to online shopping therefor it did not warrant then getting one! Quite short sited when you think of how much a family with triplets is likely to spend
