To think that Will Smith and his son are the most irritating duo?

Just watching them together on the Graham Norton show.....

Will Smith is more than a little annoying at the best of times but teamed up with his son who it's been decided is now also a 'star' the levels of annoyingness have now reached epic levels. It's really too much for my nerves!

Oh and now Michael Douglas has appeared . . . . . . . his son is a cautionary tale and a half for any celeb Dad.

Down with discommodious dynasties I say.

I quite like the look of Michael Douglas' Liberace biopic though, quite a departure for him.

I found them quite cringe-worthy! Felt sorry for the boy as he's so young and is obviously a bit addled by all the clapping / fame and is just copying his da...

Also felt like it was not quite right for uk audiences, very over the top and strutting / self aware, which doesn't quite fit either the uk or being on a talk show vs wembley arena!

AKissIsNotAContract · 28/05/2013 00:29

Are the chuckle brothers dead? If not, YABU

maras2 · 28/05/2013 00:34

Squoosh, did you see Will and Grace years ago when Michael Douglas played a gay cop?His dance routine was hilarious.

TigOldBitties · 28/05/2013 00:35

It was Graham's worst show in ages.

Very American.

Poor kid, having to do all that with your cringetastic dad.

Lighthousekeeping · 28/05/2013 00:37

Oh it was awful I started a thread about it at the time. I'm glad the rest of the family weren't on it. It was so OTT. I thought Michael Douglas was brilliant on it. He looks really well. I bet he's an interesting dinner guest.

LittleMissLucy · 28/05/2013 00:42

Nothing wrong with Americans being American TigoldBitties Hmm

But I was surprised when this child was thrust into the limelight at such an early age.

Dad is immensely funny / talented though. don't find him remotely irritating.

CallMeRoger · 28/05/2013 00:43

YANBU they are smugtastic

TigOldBitties · 28/05/2013 00:47

But on a British TV programme its annoying. If I want to watch something that American I watch American tele.

LittleMissLucy · 28/05/2013 00:55

That is hilarious, given more than 50% of UK tv seems to be bought from the US.
Are you a fascist by any chance? Or just xenophobic?

TigOldBitties · 28/05/2013 01:13

Why are you being so stroppy? It's not an unreasonable expectation to think that on a British chat show, they might have a British guest, or at least someone from another nationality. Having all those US guests didn't work, it wasn't the usual style of Graham's show. Graham usually has a mix to keep it more suited for our audiences.

I haven't said I don't watch American TV, I love loads of American TV, I recommended Californication on mn a few minutes ago. There's nothing wrong with saying I found a British TV programme too Americanised, its a common complaint.

LittleMissLucy · 28/05/2013 01:14

I am just pulling you up on saying "too American" as if being American is in some way a failing, or bad. That's a bigoted thing to say, donchaknow.

Longdistance · 28/05/2013 01:15

Yanbu, but I find his daughter irritating too.

TigOldBitties · 28/05/2013 01:20

Then you've misunderstood the emphasis. The negativity is in the word too.

Example:

She's friendly
She's too friendly

He's charming
He's too charming

It's American
It's too American

It's the excessive element which makes it a problem and is thus the negative aspect of the sentence, as you can see because it happens with even positive traits.

TheFlipsideOfTheCoin · 28/05/2013 01:30

I like Will Smith. Didn't find him and his son annoying. Thought it was fairly entertaining if anything although it did seem like his Jayden was tagged on to the act a bit.

How were they "too American" anyway? They are American! Graham Norton has all sorts of guests.

Tee2072 · 28/05/2013 01:37

Well, the audience was going nuts, Graham danced with them, his other guests were having a good time.

So not only are YBU, most of you are also being xenophobic, blinkered and lying.

HTH

BOF · 28/05/2013 01:40

Will Smith had obviously prepared a bit of a crowd-pleasing treat. I liked it, and thought it was a lot more entertaining that the usual laconic approach of A-listers doing the bare minimum to promote their movies.

LittleMissLucy · 28/05/2013 02:58

I misunderstood nothing. You may as well be saying
"Its too Jewish"
"Its too Black"
Either of those acceptable? No, didn't think so.

StupidFlanders · 28/05/2013 03:18

Yanbu.

jollyhappy · 28/05/2013 03:27

Loved the show, loved the dance at the end. The whole show made me smile and isn't that the point of the show to make people smile.

jollyhappy · 28/05/2013 03:32

.. and actually Will Smith showcased Jazzy Jeff and Carlton.

His last appearance on Graham Norton generated 8 million you tube hits and I thought he was giving recognition to his buddies as well which I thought was great! Smile

OctopusPete8 · 28/05/2013 07:48

I felt sorry for him in a 'every child finds there dad embarassing even its will smith' kinda way, maybe he should have gone on by himself.

That fresh prince reunion was brilliant, will and jazzy jeff should have been on the couch lol.

Tee2072 · 28/05/2013 07:49

Well, they went on together because they are in a movie together.

It would actually be weirder if they hadn't gone on together.

MalcolmTuckersMum · 28/05/2013 07:52

I find the whole lot of them annoying beyond belief. This is because they are annoying. I care not a hooey what nationality they are. They could be Martian, Sky-blue pink with orange spots, 10 feet tall and have webbed feet. They'd still be fucking annoying.
Also, they are Scientologists. Enough said.

Gigondas · 28/05/2013 07:52

I liked it ESP the fresh prince reunion (as others had said he made an effort).

Michael Douglas was interesting and that film looks really good.
