To think that Will Smith and his son are the most irritating duo?

Just watching them together on the Graham Norton show.....

Will Smith is more than a little annoying at the best of times but teamed up with his son who it's been decided is now also a 'star' the levels of annoyingness have now reached epic levels. It's really too much for my nerves!

Oh and now Michael Douglas has appeared . . . . . . . his son is a cautionary tale and a half for any celeb Dad.

Down with discommodious dynasties I say.

Wiki says he's had 13 singles.

woopsidaisy · 28/05/2013 09:17

I have only seen the clips of the singing/dancing. I loved it! And I think Will seems like a nice guy. Can Hollywood stars be completely normal?!
Tough for a teenager growing up in the limelight.
Has anyone noticed Bradley Cooper whilst all the singing us going on? He looks so uncomfortable, Grin!

QueenofDreams · 28/05/2013 09:17

I quite like Will Smith, but I have to say I found myself quite embarrassed for his son. He seems so completely sure of himself, maybe a bit arrogant even, and yet he's only where he is because Will Smith is his dad. He isn't really that talented, so it's embarrassing watching him up there thinking he's really special.

EleanorHandbasket · 28/05/2013 09:18

I loved it, and rewatched it a few times.

HOWEVER I have just followed a link to Will Smith's FB page. And now I feel a bit vomitty.

I still love him though.

EleanorHandbasket · 28/05/2013 09:19

Those that think Jaden isn't talented shoudl watch the Karate Kid remake.

It was no masterpiece of cinema Grin but he was very good in it. And did all the karate moves.

Mollydoggerson · 28/05/2013 09:20

I'm not sure Will Smith's son is lacking in talent, but the problem is that it has all been done before (by his dad), so the niche that he is getting into is old and Jaded.

I love Will Smith. He is amusing and hard working.

I thought the karate kid remake was appalling but
It is probably lovely having successful parents who support you in your dreams and passions. So the sympathy is probably misplaced. I don't think Jayden is as good as his dad, but I am not a teen.

I thought the graham norton show was quite entertaining.

scarletforya · 28/05/2013 09:38

I hate Will Smith. He's a narcissistic asshole. His precocious children make me cringe. The parents sell them like 'products'. Little Will and little Jada. Fake marriage. Fake. Fake. Fake. Narcissistic and fake.

Had to turn the whole show off even though I like Micheal Douglas.

Alan Carr was much better. The lads from the hangover were good craic.

BeaWheesht · 28/05/2013 09:46

Well, I do like will smith tbh but in the back of my head I'm always thinking he can't be as down to earth and 'normal' as I think given that both his children are unbearably precocious. You never hear much about his elder son do you though? Hmmmm......

Thought the Carlton dancing was epic though and thought it was nice to be on a UK show for once

stickyg · 28/05/2013 09:54

@scarletforya I completely agree ! Im sure the public face of Will Smith is lovely an nice but that's all it is, his public face. Is all about the brand Smith to him and Jada when she is clearly bearding for him.

scarletforya · 28/05/2013 10:06

Clearly bearding! I agree. Wasn't she caught red handed in the sack with someone recently? That was quickly supressed. Hmm

It always strikes me that there is more than a touch of the emperor's new clothes about Jada too. The press gush about her as though she is some sort of Goddess when although well groomed she's just not a very attractive woman.

Scientologists eh?

scarletforya · 28/05/2013 10:07

Marc Anthony it was.

GalaxyDefender · 28/05/2013 10:10

I wanted to love the clip of them, I really did. My siblings adored the Fresh Prince when we were growing up, so I'm not exactly unaware of the significance of the "reunion" thing. I just don't get it, which makes me sad as I kind of want to get why people love him so much.

The whole thing just seemed a bit cringey to me - much as some of you are getting uppity about use of the phrase, it was "too American". Too over-the-top. Also rather self-indulgent, let's not pretend he did it as a treat for others, he did it to get a positive nostalgic reaction from the crowd.

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 28/05/2013 10:14

Not a massive fan of the Smith family these days but loved the clip I saw of Will, Jazzy Jeff and Carlton. Turns out I still know all the words to Fresh Prince, much to my 5 year olds mortification!

Jaden's rapping was a touch cringe worthy but he's what 15?! I did loads of cringey stuff at that age. Copious amounts of Wine since have helped block it out thankfully Grin

stickyg · 28/05/2013 10:20

@scarletforya Yep and im sure Will is actually with one of he Wayans brothers but I cant remember which one it is. They definitely have the public fooled.

QueenofDreams · 28/05/2013 10:21

Jaden will never be able to block it out - the cringe factor is forever immortalised on film. I feel little bit sorry for him Grin

Cupcakespink · 28/05/2013 10:28

I remember seeing picture's of Will, Jaden and Willow with the older son at a club or something. He's a DJ i think, and they all looked pretty close in the pics. I've seen pictures of them with the older son a few times.

squoosh · 28/05/2013 10:31

Hmmmm, so many Will Smith fans! I just find his act so fake. He?s always chirpy and ?on?, it's a bit too polished to me. A bit too Tom Cruise.

But I don?t mind him too much by himself, it?s the fact he had his mini-me with him that was just so cringey in the extreme. I was a cringey teenanger too but thank fuck my Dad and I never decided to rap together on national television Grin

Thanks for reminding me that is daughter is a celeb too. Isn't she about 9 years old?

p.s. It?s an insult to Islam to compare it to Scientology. Islam is a religion, Scientology is a money making racket that seeks to control its members and ex members using very dubious methods.

SuburbanRhonda · 28/05/2013 10:42

squoosh, you beat me to it.

I had to have a sit down when I read someone describing Scientology as a "religion".

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/05/2013 10:43

See thats why I like him squoosh. It could be an act I've no idea but if hes on a talk show he's at work
His job is being entertaining, being Will Smith -that's what he does. If I'm at work I'm expected to behave in a certain way, wear a uniform etc.

I couldn't care less what he does in private tbh. Tom Cruise is the same - when he's working he's doing what him fans expect of him.

squoosh · 28/05/2013 10:44

Bradley Cooper seemed unusually quiet I thought, I didn't even notice he was there till the end.

OP posts:
Oblomov · 28/05/2013 10:51

I am not keen on Will smith. Don't like him or his films. I don't think he is that talented as an actor.
I have seen his son in karate kid. Ok. But not fab actor.
I don't like their open marriage, whenJada said he can do what he wants as long as he can look himself in the mirror.
Everything about him is cheesy and makes my skin crawl.

Crowler · 28/05/2013 10:54

I'm not keen on the package, no.

Surely we can make fun of Scientology. Come on now.

Wishiwasanheiress · 28/05/2013 10:58

I'm hearing they were too black, too American and too much over here.... Do you mean to be so rude?

Personally I loved the show. I love WS. He was with fresh prince big part of my growing up. I love him taking time to sing the song make it funny and do that here.

Only he comes back again and does it again!!!!
