Different people get offended by different things. Some of them are being ridiculous. Some of them are perfectly entitled to be offended, and are right to stand up and express it.

I sometimes they think they post that to quell debates.

YANBU. Some people seem to be forever being rebuked by "old bags" and given judgemental looks in supermarkets.

I conclude that either they hugely over estimate how much notice others take of them, verge on paranoia or that actually their children really are dreadfully behaved.

People who live for their entitlement to be offended are pitiable creatures, really. Their only redemption is their unique ability to amuse - unintentionally.
