I read some posts and and genuinely cannot see a problem.

I honestly wonder how some people manage to step foot out of the house as they get so easily offended.

Aibu?

In before "lol I'm offended by your post lol"

EuroShaggleton · 27/05/2013 20:00

Oh god yes (I'm sure the blasphemy there will set someone off...). I do wonder how some of the easily offended manage to get through daily life.

zonetwo · 27/05/2013 20:01

One or two mnetters cause grave offence. We all have opinions but personal abuse and attacks are beyond the pale

DuelingFanjo · 27/05/2013 20:02

YABU to not specificallynname threads and posters who have pissed you off. Come on, if you are going to start a gunfight don't be vague about it.

SoleSource · 27/05/2013 20:04

Yes

there are posters who like to give a telling off too.

Sparklingbrook · 27/05/2013 20:04

Gunfight? Shock Have we done with buns now?

WafflyVersatile · 27/05/2013 20:04

Depends. If it's something I would get offended by then they are not too easily offended. If it's something I would not get offended by then they are too easily offended.

Simple.

TheBigJessie · 27/05/2013 20:07

Erm, dunno.

Different people get offended by different things. Some of them are being ridiculous. Some of them are perfectly entitled to be offended, and are right to stand up and express it.

SurpriseMuffins · 27/05/2013 20:08

If nobody's offended it's a boring thread.

flippinada · 27/05/2013 20:08

A gunfight sounds a bit brutal and less fun than a bunfight Grin.

Some things are worth getting offended over and some less so. Did you have anything specific in mind?

DawnOfTheDee · 27/05/2013 20:09

Saw this Stephen Fry quote recently...

?It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what.?

MorrisZapp · 27/05/2013 20:09

Naming threads and posters is unacceptable form though isn't it?

Kneedeepindaisies · 27/05/2013 20:09

What Waffly, Jessie and Surprise said.

I can't tell you if YABU or not without details.

flippinada · 27/05/2013 20:10

Without specifics this thread is going to wilt away quietly and die...

flanbase · 27/05/2013 20:12

The language on here has really changed over the years. It does surprise me

Portofino · 27/05/2013 20:12

Yep, some people get upset at the drop of a hat. But MN would not be the same without them Wink

Ilikethebreeze · 27/05/2013 20:12

yes op.
I am seeing a few posters who are "outraged" or "very offended" or similar, on a once daily basis on MN.
I sometimes they think they post that to quell debates.

DuelingFanjo · 27/05/2013 20:13

Bun fight even

namelessposter · 27/05/2013 20:14

How very dare you!

FarBetterNow · 27/05/2013 20:16

Well, I was offended yesterday when I was asked

or do you mean that you hope those who have botox will be punished with toxic lymph nodes?

Why on earth would I wish cancer or illness on someone who has botox?
I was surprised that someone's mind would wotrk like that.

JenaiMorris · 27/05/2013 20:17

YANBU. Some people seem to be forever being rebuked by "old bags" and given judgemental looks in supermarkets.

I conclude that either they hugely over estimate how much notice others take of them, verge on paranoia or that actually their children really are dreadfully behaved.

Corygal · 27/05/2013 20:17

People who live for their entitlement to be offended are pitiable creatures, really. Their only redemption is their unique ability to amuse - unintentionally.

YokoUhOh · 27/05/2013 20:18

Has anyone else noticed that the most easily offended and sensitive people are usually the most insensitive/curt/'say as I find'-types? MIL

flippinada · 27/05/2013 20:18

I'm just wondering..is the OP some PC has gone mad type who is lamenting the fact that you can't say any more without the thought police sending you off to hell in a handbasket while giving mansions illegal immigrants the minute they step off a plane and how kids haven no discipline; bring back corporal punishment etc etc...

Or is it SOMETHING ELSE?

flippinada · 27/05/2013 20:20

Also, people these days can't typ or spell propparly. Because lefty liberal lentil weaving do gooders have TAKEN OVER THE COUNTRY.
