I read some posts and and genuinely cannot see a problem.

I honestly wonder how some people manage to step foot out of the house as they get so easily offended.

Aibu?

God, Stephen Fry's a wanker, did he really say that? Was there a context...I bloody well hope so, otherwise he's saying no one has the right to speak out when some twat (probably Fry) says something offensive.

LittleMissLucy · 27/05/2013 21:32

YABNU. Herein lies rampant offense-taking. And provocation, and rude words, lots of those.

HandMini · 27/05/2013 21:35

I've been totally offended just by the mention if Stephen Fry. I think it's because of this which I saw just this weekend: tool

Do I Look Like I Give A Fuck. Sometimes there are two "F"s, the other stands for Flying.

flippinada · 27/05/2013 22:11

Thank you. That was bothering me :)

Trust that this isn't a thread about a thread?

Please put your guns away too. Thanks

I've not thought much of Stephen Fry since his comment about straight women merely tolerating sex as a trade off to get a relationship with a man. I don't see how he can proclaim to be an expert on the minds of women.

YouBastard · 27/05/2013 23:25

I think MN gives people the opportunity to say 'I'm offended' to another individual, without any real comeback. Most people would not take issue with a random stranger if they were actually face to face. MN bears absolutely no resemblance to RL situations for the most part. Hence why people freely say it on here!

Lazyjaney · 27/05/2013 23:48

^^
I agree, there seem to be more easily offended people here than in RL.

CherylTrole · 27/05/2013 23:52

I thought Po on here = twee/sheltered life and offended by everything and everyone ? I need a proper MN definition!

CherylTrole · 27/05/2013 23:54

OP YABU when you said you had read some threads......

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/05/2013 23:56

Please don't put off the people who get all shaky and start crying about the offensiveness of their MILs bedspread or something. Those threads are the highlight of mumsnet.

GetOrfMoiLand · 27/05/2013 23:57

Ad frankly I don't give a fuck what Stephen Fry says. If ever a man has been so overwhelmingly overrated for his wit and intellect it is he.

IKnowWhat · 27/05/2013 23:57

Posters seem very offended by MIL's in particular. They are offended if they visit too often, offended if they don't visit enough ,offended if they buy things, offended if they don't buy things. Confused I am glad I am not a MIL.

Kiwiinkits · 28/05/2013 01:59

There was a thread on here the other day about how very offended people were at the prevalence of the use of the word chav.
Don't be offended folks. Some things are chavvy, tacky, tasteless and common. Other things are elegant and considered. The only difference between the classes is the ability to tell the difference. Not sure why that's offensive; that's always been the case.
