Does anyone on here actually think that reins on children are the work of the devil?

If so, why? I'm genuinely curious.

Also, so far as I know there hasn't been a bunfight about this yet, so potentially a good Friday topic Grin

How did that happen?! Anyway we still seem in agreement although the toddlers who were on reins 4 years ago should be off them safely by now!

I have four children, all born close together. Reins were a godsend and helped me keep my children safe. Running after one toddler fine when their your first, but when you are heavily pregnant with nos 2, 3 or 4 running isn't always an option. By and large they all listened and obeyed when I said stop but kids will be kids and if something grabs there attention they forget danger and make a run for it.

I never thought I would need them and I've got a 5 year old runner and a 1.5 year old. What in buggery's name do I do if they run in opposite directions? Am about to buy two backpacks with reins.

My child is a bolter . Safer to use the reins.

Camomila · 27/02/2018 19:44

I like them. DS has cute fish little backpack ones.
He loves cars/trucks/buses and doesnt want to stay on the pavement. I feel safer having him in grabbing distance in case he ever slipped out of my hand.

It also means DM can take him for walks as she wouldn’t feel safe with the busy roads otherwise.

GeekyBlinders · 27/02/2018 19:47

"Better on a 'dog lead' than under a bus" - that's my motto for dealing with my bolting toddler when we're out and about.
