The Rooney's New Baby 'Klay' - Brother to 'Kai'

I've never seen Clay spelt with a K.

Maybe they are starting their own Kardashian style family. All the 'K's...

Has anyone ever seen it spelt like this?

It may be that they start a fashion and that in 20 years time their little Klay will be just one of thousands of Klays. Smile

When we heard that distant relatives had decided to bestow on their newborn the name of Oscar, dh and I muttered to ourselves "that is bloody child abuse". 5 years later every other child was called Oscar and nobody noticed that their Oscar was one of the first.

Och Oscar is a good strong name. Depends on the surname though.

I think you may have got to the bottom of why I don't like the K thing. It is the Ku Klux Klan!

Apart from Katherine. That's a nice name

Oh Jamie......I think we did that about 3 hours ago upthread!

Katherine....I find a bit OS, but that is just me. =)

Wouldn't use it myself but I do quite like it.

I think if it had been a girl she would have probably been Rosie after Coleen's late sister

I think that there is probably a special circle in Hell for people who are nasty about newborn children and something as personal as their names.

Mother to a Kathryn (and apparently, therefore, a Chav)

They are rich. Their children will mix with other rich children with similar names. The rich don't care.

'Kai' on an estate though? Immediate name based conclusions drawn by their teachers.

Where did I read, TES forum I think, girl names beginning with 'K' indicate trouble makers. Almost uniform agreement.

"Oh, here come Wayne and Klay."

Some families just have dodgy taste in names.

I honestly can not see any problem with it. I don't have an opinion on Kai, I wouldn't use it for my DC, there was one in DS2's(16) nursery and I never thought it odd then either. I think Klay is an OK name, again not my choice but I wouldn't sneer and slag them off or call them "chavs".

FWIW I think the comment that people should use when they hear someone has had a baby is "how lovely, congratulations!"

I agree, that should be/ is the first comment, whilst sometimes thinking "what on earth were they thinking?"

I think Klay is alright. I'd probably spell it with a C but it was probably Wayne who told the press registered it so wee Klay it is.

When I read all the responses on this thread I inadvertently made a 'pppsssshhhh' noise when I read, 'so wee Klay it is.' Grin

Are you a Weegie?

I just imagined your post with a Glaswegian accent as it sounded so sympathetic and soft as Weegies can be......and ultimately resigned that 'wee Klay it was'. And that made it all the funnier as I am a Weegie.

I'm a bit shocked at how horrid you were to themaltesecat, MNC. She only commented that it was unkind to be unkind about newborn babies and their names...she didn't deserve the vitriol you poured on her.
