I've never seen Clay spelt with a K.

Maybe they are starting their own Kardashian style family. All the 'K's...

Has anyone ever seen it spelt like this?

I've heard worse names. At least it's close to a 'real' name and not some made up crap - or a piece of fruit!

Congrats to them, they'll be too busy enjoying the newness of the baby to read this. But they'll also be getting newborn cuddles which are lovely.

I think the distaste for K names stems from the fact K names became very popular with what people class as 'chavs' so you see a lot of names like
Kai/Kale/Kayden/Kaiden/Kia/Kory/Kallum/Kallam/Kallem,Kolon.Kewel and made up names or names that usually begin with a C being changed to starting with a K, to 'make it unique'. I once heard it referred to as 'K for Kommon'.
Unfortunately the Roonies have ticked all the boxes of the above prejudices.

Nothing to do with jealousy, there's a lot more to life than money. Personally I'd rather be reasonably well off and have some class thanks.

AKAK, what makes you so wonderful to be able to call other people " chavs"?

I like Colleen, her and her family sound rather wonderful, with their adoption of their late and much loved disabled child, and Coleen's sister.
That to me is class.
I think Wayne just need to grow up.

Well for starters I wouldn't be having threesomes with hookers whilst my wife was pregnant with my child (or at any other time for that matter.) The man's just scum.

Oh Momsnetcurtains I actually preferred Kewel, especially as the boys second name was Waters......

i really hate people that thing children's name's define them or what they will amount to in life i loathe people that also think they can label others as chavs etc (watch you don't fall too hard getting off you're high horse!!)

as for all those slagging kids names well i hope you're dcs go for an amazing job when they're older and fail to get it due to a "k" named child ( or unusual, spelled wierd etc)that you've slagged off and see how you're "classy" name you chose had absolutely no impact on your child and their abilities to amount to something in life!!

i dont like the name but i guess what you link it to depends on your age, i never thought Cassius Clay, i automatically thought she was a one tree hill fan Grin the whole family reek chavtastic anyway

Personally, I wouldn't mind a trend of people naming their children (especially their boy children) names that translate well to adult life. Some of the God awful made up "pretty" or "faux African"or "aspirational" (Cavalli, Armani, Alize, Moet, Prada)names that I have had to grip my sphincter about (I know it's none of my business) on hearing, Klay (whether with a K or a C) will be a name that this child should be able to carry well into adulthood, considering that Mr Rooney probably has very strong genes. Naming their boy child DeShawn probably won't cut the mustard after the age of ten. Some male children have to be given "big man" names. What say a campaign to get some of those American "Mount Rushmore" names popular over here? I really do think that Chad, Chuck, Blaine etc could really become popular. Don't flame me, I'm being cheeky!

I dislike it though I daresay young Klay's parents don't give a stuff about my opinion.

thressy but, sadly, there's quite a lot of evidence that children with atypical names are discriminated against, e.g. in job applications.

I agree it's none of our business to judge anyone's names, but you can't really say that you hate people who think that children are defined by their names, because, to a certain extent, they are.

stooshe I think Chad is a brilliant name. I used to have a massive crush on an (admittedly American) Chad when I was a teenager.

Threesy, what?

It DOES make a difference what your child is called. Look at some of the responses on this thread - I'm sure that some people here are responsible for hiring at work and might well favour a Charles over a Klay because as a result of an ingrained snobbery about names.

Too bad if you don't like it, but you can't deny its existence!

I quite like Coleen from what little I know about her, but Klay is awful!

Not keen on Kai either, but Klay. Arghhh.
