Was just wondering as I am 29 and a mother of two young children and I'm not a huge fan of clothes shopping and am by no means a fashion icon!!! But was wondering where you shop and how old you were as the shops I seem to like seem to be popular with people older than me which is giving me a complex!!! Not helped by my dh saying some of my clothes are hideous!!

I'm 34 and since hitting my 30s and going up to a curvy size 14, I just can't get away with TopShop / Primark / New Look, etc as I find the shapes are cut to be fashionable, rather than to flatter.

I love Monsoon, but find it isn't cut generous enough at the bust and is too long. M&S is great (although when I was younger I swore I'd never shop there) and Phase Eight never fails to make me look great, although because their items can be a bit on the pricey side, I tend to scout for them on ebay. If I can afford to treat myself I love Whistles and Jigsaw.

STB 47 (in June)

jeans Tesco
tops, jumpers Sainsburys when they have a sale or when I see something I like
Primark- DD loves it. I buy T-Shirts and jumpers in there.

Anything else M&S (well I am nearly 47- target customer )
Underwear
Shoes
Naice tops and jumpers

QVC for lots of bits (I bought all my coats from QVC )

Estherbelle · 22/05/2013 19:51

Oh, and I forgot to say - I detest H&M - the sizing is ridiculously small, the t-shirts are made out of such thin material they're see-thru, the stores are ramshackle with people fighting to squeeze through the aisles and everything I've bought from there has fallen apart within 6 months.

Oopla · 22/05/2013 22:43

I'm 31

Mostly from charity shops
Basics from next.

There isn't one shop on the high street that I could say wow, that's bang on my style. Have always been similar to you that I've hated shopping. Fashion is shite. Mens clothes are on the whole well made, designed to last and not hard to put together.

Women's are ever changing so we are discouraged from sticking with what works and pushed into buying cheap one off wonders.

MrsCosmopilite · 22/05/2013 22:48

40+

New look, Topshop, Charity shops, occasionally Next and occasionally Red Herring.

M&S for underwear every time though.

nicecupofteaandbiscuit · 22/05/2013 22:55

29 years old.

H&M for basic tops and cardigans

John Lewis for pretty tops and skirts (East, Mango, Oasis etc), shoes (liking Gabor at the moment), and jeans (Levis)

Monsoon for stuff for special occasions. Would shop in there all the time if I could justify the price.

Occasional bits from Debenhams, Zara. Can't every find anything I like in Next, which is annoying because people are always buying me gift cards for my birthday.

Interested in so many people shopping at Topshop - all the stuff in there always looks so weird. I'm sure it's changed since I was a teenager!

OhTheConfusion · 22/05/2013 23:27

Almost 30... and a size 14/16.

I love Zara, Next and H&M for basics.
Monsoon for decent fitting linen trousers.
DP for cheap school run jeans.
Sainsburys black jogging bottoms don't shrink in the wash!
Hobbs, Coast, French Connection, and brands like Almost Famous for dresses etc.
Agnes B for knitwear (sadly only when in London).
Biba, Triumph and Untold are worth every penny for big busted ladies and I do love my spanx!
Clarks and Kurt Geiger/Carvella and Converse for shoes (comfort is essential).

Nicecupoftea... have Gabor moved with the times? I always think of them as 'granny' shoes. Perhaps I should have a look!

BuntyCollocks · 22/05/2013 23:42

ohtheconfusion I'm impressed you can get anything in Zara! I'm a 14-16 with admittedly huge boobs, and I can feel their clothes shriek at me, crying, "unclean, unclean, unhand us, you non size 8 fool!"

I've never even dared try a dress, skirt or trousers.

AmberSocks · 22/05/2013 23:44

ASOS mostly,i dont have many clothes and i tendto get rid of them quite quickly,i have been pregnant most of the past 5 years so am always getting bigger and smaller.

AmberSocks · 22/05/2013 23:45

oh sorry and i am 27.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/05/2013 23:46

Zara,Mango,Warehouse,Oasis,Topshop,Marks and Spencer,H+M,Tesco,Sainsburys.

I'm 24.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/05/2013 23:47

Oh and ASOS but their sizing is wildly different throughout their range. I buy it,it arrives,I try it on and send it back as often as not.

TheSloppelganger · 22/05/2013 23:48

Age 32, average size 14.

I very rarely shop, and as I work from home I don't need to dress up or even get dressed

I do sometimes have to leave the house though and generally wear Top Shop jeans and vest tops or t-shirts from Dorothy Perkins when I do so.

My mum knits me jumpers and cardigans, so no need to buy those Grin

I probably shop most in TK Maxx because you can find some really good different stuff quite cheaply if you have time and you're willing to root through all the rails.

If I have to go out somewhere - wedding, party, posh restaurant etc then I head to Pepperberry - because nowhere else does such nice stuff that actually fits both my H cup boobs and 26 inch waist. If I had smaller norkage I'd probably go to Monsoon for that kind of thing because I like their stuff a lot.
