Particularly the man who yelled at him "foreigners are welcome in Scotland, you're not!"

I enjoyed the independence extremists accusing farrage of being racist- whilst telling him to " off back to England" without a trace of irony

Sheshelob · 17/05/2013 19:11

I confront them wherever I can, Spar. One bloated, wax-jacketed smugball handed my husband a bundle of leaflets at a fair last weekend and I was overcome with anger. I stuffed them back into his paw, saying he wouldn't want my husband's support, what with him being an immigrant, and told them they were a disgrace and unwelcome at a family event. He looked genuinely dismayed, as we were in a vey naice area where he obviously thought he and his snivelling crew would be welcome.

Fuck being civil. This is war as far as I'm concerned.

quoteunquote · 17/05/2013 19:13

I never though I would say anything positive about Nigel Farage,

but what a brave man, I'm amazed he had the nerve to set foot in Scotland, let alone publicise that he was there,

Got to be the best example ever of a political miscalculation ever, he must be so completely arrogant to of even tried it, someone must of tried to warn him what was going to happen, and he must of decided to give it a go anyway, twonk of the highest order.

It's a disgrace that the big 3 English parties refused this until recently

This ^^ ignorant type of statement is exactly why so many people in Scotland want independence. (I think we need to stick together)

Nigel Farage was very lucky one of my sisters didn't spot him, they are not as shy as the Scots he did meet.

Sparhawk · 17/05/2013 19:14

Ditto, there are a lot of them around here. They have a car with a fucking loud speaker on and drive it around blaring out ridiculous propaganda, I've been approached by a few too. They get affronted when I tell them I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than vote for them.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 17/05/2013 19:16

I bloody loved it!! Well done Scotland.

flippinada · 17/05/2013 19:16

Sparhawk - trousers as an act of aggression..dear me!

You couldn't make this stuff up.

LastTangoInDevonshire · 17/05/2013 19:16

Labour usually pander to the electorate.........is that why they have done a massive u-turn and said that their immigration policy was wrong and they hadn't listened to people........AND that they'd denied trying to manipulate immigration. Wouldn't be because of UKIP, would it by any chance?

It is NOT racist to say that our little island is nearly full and can't take any more. It is NOT racist to say that people are fearful of an influx of eastern european migrants.

Sheshelob · 17/05/2013 19:17

I think I love you, Spar.

We need to get fucking 90s on their arses. None of this tiptoeing and faux-civility. Fucking keeping calm and carrying on. If we don't make them feel unwelcome they will keep hiding behind their fake respectability. Shake them up and out roars the bigot.

Sparhawk · 17/05/2013 19:17

flippinada It's not hard to see why women are leaving the party in droves, is it?

Sparhawk · 17/05/2013 19:19

LastTangoInDevonshire But it is racist to say that you'll never get the 'nig-nogs' vote, who said that I wonder? Oh right, Nigel Farage.

Yama · 17/05/2013 19:20

'Mon the Scots!

CloudsAndTrees · 17/05/2013 19:22

People are proud of a reaction like that?

I can't stand Farage, but I think those people were just showing themselves to be completely uncivilised and rude. I'm amazed that anyone thinks behaviour like that is something to be proud of. It makes me ashamed to have Scottish heritage, not proud.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 17/05/2013 19:22

I'm not fearful of an influx of eastern European immigrants. I'm also a person.

One that won't be voting UKIP.

Sparhawk · 17/05/2013 19:23

The UKIP is the only political party to have a ban on ex-BNP members from joining the party and they wear it like a badge of honor. Which makes you wonder, why would they have to ban ex-BNP members? Is it because their policies are made to appeal towards racists? If you actually look at them a lot of UKIPs policies are even more extreme than the BNP's.

flippinada · 17/05/2013 19:23

I can't say I'm surprised, they aren't exactly female friendly.

What with the charming Mr Farage passing on his delightful views about lap dancing clubs, and now this I'm surprised there are any women left in the party at all.
Wouldn't have thought pissing off 50% of voters was an effective electoral strategy either...

chibi · 17/05/2013 19:25

this kind of response has a long and dignified history cable street riots

This is even better, Godfrey Bloom the notorious mysogynist poses with attractive women to prove he absolutely isn't a sexist prick. You couldn't make it up. Linky.

LastTangoInDevonshire · 17/05/2013 19:26

But you just don't get it, do you...........most people who voted UKIP did NOT vote for Farage or his politics........they voted AGAINST Lib/Lab/Con. It was the only way to get the 3 biggies to listen......and it worked.

SofaKing · 17/05/2013 19:28

Last tango, until two years ago, Scotland had a falling population. Only in very recent times has birth rate and immigration outweighed death rate.

Not all areas of the UK are against immigration, and Farage needs to realise this and stop having tantrums and insulting those who find his message so deeply distasteful they will come out and protest it.

LadyGranulomaFortesque · 17/05/2013 19:28

Hmm, I wouldn't be proud at all! I felt embarrassed for the people at that 'protest' and sorry for Scotland that these people are 'representative' of them.

'Scum, scum, scum'? Sorry, but that is no way disagree with something you may not like and demonstrated actually how very little they understood both of UKIP and certainly of racism.

meglet · 17/05/2013 19:29

yanbu. I'm not Scottish but it warmed the cockles of my heart seeing Farage jeered by the crowd.

Diddums.

OrlaKiely · 17/05/2013 19:31

He's the sort of pig that almost puts me off wearing my barbour.

Good for you, Edinburgh. Wine

Wallison · 17/05/2013 19:33

Godfrey Bloom, friend to women (sorry, that should be "girls") everywhere, needs no help from the TUC in order to look like a sexist fucking wanker.
