To watch Pride & Prejudice on my own with a bottle of wine...

DH works away during the week and I'm fed up being on my own again. Not his fault and he wishes he was at home more too. However, I'm in a bit of a grump today and to cheers myself up I'm going to watch P&P on my own with a bottle of Pinot. The BBC version (the best adaption in my humble opinion), not the Keira Knightley one.

I'm looking forward to the bit when their eyes meet over the piano in the drawing room.....

I am so Envy - that sounds like the perfect evening. Enjoy Wine

LineRunner · 16/05/2013 19:14

That's my idea of a good night. Smile Love the BBC one. And the even earlier BBC one is great, too.

SAHRum · 16/05/2013 19:14

YANBU! sounds like the perfect way to spend a Thursday evening

PoppyWearer · 16/05/2013 19:14
Envy
dipitydoyou · 16/05/2013 19:24

YANBU sounds like a perfect evening to me too!

Colin Firth getting out of the lake in a wet shirt.....sighs

DeskPlanner · 16/05/2013 19:38

Budge up a bit more for me.

I am so very Envy . That honestly does sound like a perfect evening. Not fair.

Hulababy · 16/05/2013 19:40

I would :)
P&P, wine, chocolate - perfect!

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/05/2013 19:40

Can't we have a fantasy MN version where it is no Ikea Knightly but I get Matthew MacFadyen? Pretty please?

Decoy · 16/05/2013 19:41

YANBU. What a good idea for a nice evening Smile

squoosh · 16/05/2013 19:41

Oh yes, I did this recently, was lovely.

Hadn't watched the BBC version in ages so was worried it would look a bit creaky. It doesn't, it's still great. Love the eyes over the piano bit too. Love when Caroline Bingley gets her comeuppance.

Nelly000 · 16/05/2013 19:42

I can bring Monster Munch? Smile

KurriKurri · 16/05/2013 19:43

Oh can I come Envy, I have half a plum crumble and some mini cheddars. I also have shingles but am not catching, and only slightly spotty so Colin Firth would still find me mysterious and alluring

Nelly000 · 16/05/2013 19:43

Lol at MrsTP autocorrect fail. If that's what is was Grin

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/05/2013 19:47

Not a typo. A Mark Kermode reference. Because she is so wooden. Snurk. Grin

Xiaoxiong · 16/05/2013 19:48

YANBU. DH is working late tonight and I was just trying to decide whether to watch P&P or something silly from the LoveFilm site Twilight while folding laundry - it'll have to be a hot choc though for pregnant me though.

mylovelymonster · 16/05/2013 19:50

Ooh wonderful - I stayed up til 1am the other night as I just caught Mansfield Park (1999 classic) on Beeb2. It was gorgeous. DH always fidgets, and prefers car chases, so preferable if he's elsewhere TBH.
Enjoy your evening with The Firth x

LineRunner · 16/05/2013 19:50

Of course, there is always the Eurovision semi-final...

nkf · 16/05/2013 19:51

Without me? Yes, you are being very unreasonable.

JustGiveMeFiveMinutes · 16/05/2013 19:54

I'm on my own too as DH working away. As soon as ds2 in bed I'll be watching Sense and Sensibility which I'm sky plussing atm.

In answer to your question YADNBU Grin

sleepingsatellite · 16/05/2013 19:58

Just finished watching it, so no, YANBU!

quizzywizz · 16/05/2013 20:36

Watch North and South ..... John Thorton is an AMAZING character!! Better than Darcy .....

Brandnewbrighttomorrow · 16/05/2013 20:38

Massive Envy. Enjoy!

MissMogwi · 16/05/2013 20:39

No one is ever unreasonable if they watch P&P with or without wine. I love it, especially the Colin Firth version.

I also love Jane Eyre. I love me some Michael Fassbender as Mr Rochester.
